vs. Suffolk
• Babson is 25-18 all-time against Suffolk in a series that dates back to 2010.
• The Beavers have won seven of the last nine battles between the two schools, with the Hawks victories coming in 2013 and 2022.

LAST MEETING
vs. Suffolk
• Junior Garret Roberts and sophomore Harry Painter both homered to help visiting Suffolk defeat Babson, 7-1, on March 30, 2022 at Govoni Field.
• Thomas Lapham '22 singled twice and Josh Yellen '22 went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks for the Beavers, who were limited to just six hits on the day. Junior Tristen Spalter gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out eight over 6.0 innings but took the loss.
• Junior Joe Ward doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Roberts and Christian Seariac '2G both finished with two hits to pace the Rams. Michael Muscarella '22 picked up his first win after allowing just one run on five hits over 5.0 innings. Casey Sullivan '22 and senior George Breslin combined to throw four shutout innings of relief for Suffolk.
vs. Roger Williams
• Senior Ben Bonavita homered in the fourth inning and recorded the final six outs to earn his first save as Roger Williams defeated visiting Babson, 4-3, on March 31, 2022 at Paolino Field.
• Graduate student Jack Pirkl and junior Tanner Santos both singled twice and scored a run, while senior Michael Cook went 2-for-4 to lead the Beavers. Andrew Dembowski '22 and senior Jackson Kelly each drove in a run in the loss. William Cournan '22 and senior Stephen McLendon each tossed a perfect inning of relief with two strikeouts apiece, while sophomore Luke McClintock allowed one run in the final two innings.
• Senior Christopher Flynn doubled and homered while classmate Matt Massaro and Brandon Jenkins '22G both singled and drove in a run for the Hawks. Connor Hewlette '22 improved to 3-0 allowing a pair of unearned runs on six hits to go along with three strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (6-7) has won its last four games, including a doubleheader sweep of Salem State on Sunday at Govoni Field, 7-2 and 10-2.
• Seniors Tim Noone and Anthony St. John had impressive starts for the Beavers, each giving up just one run on five hits in 7.0 innings to earn the win. Noone did not walk a batter and recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts while St. John allowed just one walk while fanning four.
• Cook went 4-for-5 to lead five players with multiple hits in the opener and classmate Michael O'Brien doubled and drove in two. Pirkl, junior Brant Savage and first-years Ryan Hvozdovic and Chris Basile each had two hits.
• Savage went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and a career-high five RBI in the nightcap while graduate student Ryan Noone hit a two-run homer and Santos went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks and two-runs scored. Junior Luca Rubin also went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
• Cook (.400, 10 RBI) and Savage (.370, 5 HR, 16 RBI) share the team lead with 20 hits, and Hvozdovic (.366, 2 HR, 8 RBI) has been a solid addition to the Beaver line-up along with Ryan Noone (6 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI), who is tied for the team lead in extra-base hits.
• Noone (2-0, 0.95 ERA) has recorded 37 strikeouts against just two walks in 28.1 innings. St. John (2-0, 2.33 ERA) has allowed 16 hits and one walk in 19.1 innings, striking out 15, and Spalter (1-1, 3.55 ERA) has issued just three walks in 25.1 innings with 17 strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
• Suffolk (6-5), which had its Tuesday game vs. Emerson postponed, is coming off a sweep of Nichols in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener on Sunday, 3-2 and 4-3.
• Senior Luke Harder and graduate student Timothy McCarthy each had two hits and an RBI in the opener, and fellow grad student Michael James drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Junior Garret Roberts allowed just one unearned run on four hits in 7.0 innings while striking out two to record the win (2-2).
• Breslin earned the win in the nightcap with an 8-inning stint, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out five. Classmate Caleb Piwnicki struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his first save. Grad student Marc Barbiglia singled in a run to cap a two-run rally in the first inning, Harder singled in a run in the sixth and sophomore Max Iorio's RBI double in the bottom of the eighth proved to be the game-winner.
• Iorio (.478, 4 2B) leads the team in hitting while juniors Jonny Gilbride (.457, 4 2B, 11 RBI) and Roberts (.432, 5 2B, 10 RBI) and sophomore Harry Painter (.400, 5 2B, 2 HR) are the primary run producers. Gilbride has six stolen bases and has scored a team-high 16 runs.
• Roberts (2-2, 3.86 ERA) has 18 strikeouts in 21 innings, Breslin (1-2, 3.09 ERA) has 16 Ks in 23.1 innings. Piwnicki (1-0, 8.68 ERA) and Painter (1-0, 5.79 ERA) both have 13 strikeouts in 9.1 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
• Roger Williams (3-10), which plays at Save Regina on Wednesday before coming to Babson, snapped a 10-game losing streak last Sunday with a pair of victories over Western New England in the CCC opener, 7-4 and 4-2.
• The Hawks pulled out game one with a four-run eighth inning, capped by a three-run double by sophomore Owen Hibbard. Junior Jack Morin also knocked in two runs and senior Matt Falvey and Massaro drove in one run apiece. Massaro pitched 7.1 innings, allowing three runs and striking out six, and sophomore Nick Gleason earned the win (1-1) after working 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
• It was a four-run seventh inning that made the difference in the nightcap, capped by a two-run single by Massaro. Falvey and Massaro each had two hits each and Morin and Mike Masino each drove in one. JT Gunzy did not allow an earned run in 5.0 inning, striking out four, while first-year Louie Mosca earned the win in relief and junior Brett Lauterbach earned his first save with a perfect ninth inning.
• Hibbard (.429, 2 2B) has a team-high eight RBI, while Massaro (.304, 2 3B) and Morin (.293, 3 2B) have seven RBI apiece and senior Christopher Flynn (.268, 2 HR) has knocked in six. Falvey (.325) is second on the team with 13 hits.
• Matt Hynes (3.46 ERA) has 15 strikeouts in 13 innings, Gunzy (3.94 ERA) has fanned 17 batters in 16 innings, and Massaro (7.63 ERA) has 11 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.
HOME SWEET HOME
• Babson has won its first three home games this season and has captured 16 of the last 19 at Govoni Field going back to the start of last season.
• The Beavers have gone 51-11 at home dating back to the start of the 2018 campaign.
STREAKING BEAVERS
• Cook had his 13-game hitting streak snapped but has reached base safely in 14 consecutive outings going back to last year.
• Savage now has a 10-game hitting streak, which includes four straight multi-hit games, and Santos has reached base in 13 contests in a row going back to last May.
NCAA STATS LEADERS
• Beaver pitchers are No. 1 in Division III in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.48) and walks allowed per nine innings (1.64) and ranked fifth in WHIP (walks/hits per innings pitched) with a 1.17 mark.
• Babson is ranked 14th in Division III with a .976 fielding percentage, with just 12 errors in 13 games.
• Tim Noone is ranked first nationally in WHIP (0.53), fourth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (18.50), 10th in hits allowed per nine innings (4.13) and 20th in earned run average (0.95). St. John is fifth in walks allowed per nine innings (0.47) and eighth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (15.00).
• Ryan Noone is 21st in doubles per game (0.60), Savage is 22nd in home runs per game (0.38), and Santos is ninth in walks per game (1.23).
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson has scored at least six runs in each of its last 11 victories going back to last April.
• The Green and White is 5-1 this season and 23-5 going back to the start of last year when recording at least 10 hits.
• The Beavers are 5-1 this season and 22-2 going back to last season when leading after seven innings, and 5-0 this spring and 24-1 since last year taking a lead into the ninth inning.
NEWMAC SLATE LOOMING
• The two midweek games for Babson are the final tune-ups heading into the NEWMAC slate that begins this Saturday with a doubleheader at Springfield at 12 p.m.
• The Beavers finished tied for first with Wheaton in the NEWMAC preseason poll, with each team receiving four first-place votes. The Green and White had the second-best conference record last season (12-5) behind Wheaton (14-3) and ahead of third-place Springfield (11-6).
