Baseball Faces North Central (Ill.), Stevens and Wooster to Wrap up Florida Trip Starting Tuesday

WHAT TO KNOW
• Despite a 1-3 start to the trip, Babson owns a win over No. 11/18 Denison while dropping a one-run decision to sixth-ranked Baldwin Wallace and an extra-inning loss to North Central (Ill.).

SERIES HISTORY
vs. North Central (Ill.): the Beavers are 1-1 all-time against the Cardinals after suffering a 10-3 10-inning loss on Saturday morning in Port Charlotte.
vs. Stevens: first meeting
vs. Wooster: Babson is 1-2 all-time against the Scots and suffered a 15-13 loss on Sunday in Port Charlotte.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (2-5) wrapped up the first half of its spring break trip with a 15-13 loss to Wooster on Sunday afternoon.
• Graduate student Ryan Noone went 4-for-6 with two RBI and three runs scored and first-year Ryan Hvozdovic was 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored for the Beavers, who pounded out a season-high hits in the loss.
• Hvozdovic is batting .444 with two doubles, two homers and six runs batted in, senior Michael Cook is hitting .370 with two doubles and eight RBI and Noone boasts a .308 average to go along with four doubles, one home run, seven RBI and five runs scored
• Senior Tim Noone (0-0, 1.29 ERA) has recorded 14 strikeouts in 14.0 innings over two starts, senior Anthony St. John is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA over 10.2 innings and first-year Connor Doan (0-0, 4.50 ERA) has five strikeouts in 4.0 innings out of the bullpen.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
• No. 22 North Central (7-2) has won two straight games after defeating Denison, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon.
• John Michael Scumaci came through with a two-run triple in the sixth and Dom Listi went 3-for-4 and scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth for the Cardinals, who got 1.2 innings of shutout relief from Nolan Shannon.
• Rob Marinec is batting .457 with six doubles, three home runs and 12 runs batted in, Listi is hitting .385 with five extra-base hits and nine runs scored, and Scumaci boasts a .333 average to go along with two homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored.
• Ryan Behling (1-0, 1.31 ERA) and Jason Shanner (1-0, 1.35 ERA) have combined to hold opposing hitters to a .194 average, while Shannon is 3-0 and has not allowed a hit in 5.2 innings of relief.

SCOUTING THE DUCKS
• Stevens (7-5) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over Arcadia in on Sunday.
• Chris Davis was 3-for-3 with a triple and a run scored and Jack Irby hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth for the Ducks, who were in danger of dropping their third straight one-run game to the Knights.
• Christian Kreiser is batting .385 with three doubles, three homers and 13 runs batted in, Victor Schilleci is hitting .333 with a double and 10 RBI and Michael Reyes owns a .295 average to go along with two doubles, two homers ans 12 runs batted in.
• Justin Doyle (3-2, 4.00 ERA) is holding hitters to a .194 average in 27.0 innings, while Matt Villapiano (0-0) owns a 2.45 ERA to go along with seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings out of the bullpen.

SCOUTING THE SCOTS
• Wooster (2-2) followed up a 19-7 loss to Mitchell with a 15-13 win over Babson on Sunday.
• Dean Brown hit a third-inning grand slam and Dane Camphausen went 3-for-5 with four RBI and four runs scored to lead a 19-hit attack as the Scots built a 13-2 lead before holding on for a two-run win over the Beavers.
• Camphausen is batting .588 with four doubles, three home runs and seven RBI in four starts, Ryan Kramer is 10-for-17 (.588) at the plate with two doubles and four runs batted in and Grant Mitchell owns a .400 average to go along with six extra-base hits, seven RBI and seven runs scored.
• Cooper Bear and Christian Johnson have both made two scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, while junior Corey Knauf (0-0) owns a 3.00 ERA and nine strikeouts over 12.0 innings in two starts.

POWER SURGE
• Babson's three home runs on Sunday against Wooster were its most since hitting three in an 8-2 win over MIT on April 23 of last season.
• The Beavers 22 total hits were their most since finishing with 24 in a 26-1 win over WPI on April 5, 20218, and the nine extra-base hits were their most in a game over the last decade.

BEAVER BITES
• Junior Brant Savage is batting .353 (6-for-17) in four games in Florida to go along with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored.
• Junior Ike Kiely is batting .455 (5-for-11) in three starts in Florida with two doubles and two runs scored.
• Cook is riding a seven-game hitting streak entering Tuesday's game against North Central, while junior Tanner Santos (.469 OBP) has reached base safely in all seven contests this spring.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 21-8 over the last two seasons when allowing five runs or fewer.
• Babson is 2-4 this season and 5-6 since the start of last year against nationally-ranked opponents.
• The Green and White ranks seventh in Division issuing just 2.05 walks per nine innings and is 11th nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.57).

• The Beavers return north to host Nichols in their home opener at Govoni Field on Wednesday, March 22.
