QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—The Babson College finished third in a pair of giant slalom races at West Mountain on Sunday.
The Beavers' top three competitors posted a two-run time of 6:10.84 in the morning race to finish behind both Castleton and Clarkson and came in behind the Spartans and Golden Knights in the afternoon race that featured just one run for each skier.
Junior Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) was Babson's top finisher on Sunday morning coming in fifth with a two-run time of 2:02.06. Senior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) finished sixth with a time of 2:02.67 and first-year Max Bellino (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was less than a half-second behind him in seventh with a time of 2:02.95.
Junior Lucas Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) placed eighth in 2:03.86 and classmate Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.) finished in 14th position with his time of 2:04.98. Senior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) took 19th overall (2:05.83), first-year Finn Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah) was 22nd with a time of 2:06.23 and sophomore Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) was 0.48 seconds behind him in 23rd place.
Bellino led the way in the afternoon race by coming in eighth with a time of 1:01.02. Horsley (1.02.04) and Wolff (1:02.14) were separated by just 0.10 seconds in 14th and 15th position, while Beney came in 16th in 1:02.44.
Carpenter rounded out the Beavers' five finishers with a time of 1:04.10, which was good for 26th place.
Babson will conclude its MacConnell Division regular season schedule next Saturday and Sunday with slalom races at Pat's Peak.
