CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine—First-year Max Bellino (Shrewsbury, Mass.) came in fourth overall to help the Babson College men's alpine ski team place third in the slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain on Saturday.

The Beavers' top three skiers posted a time of 4:20.47 that was 1.65 seconds behind second-place Clarkson. Castleton, which claimed the top three spots on the individual leaderboard, was first with a time of 4:06.30.

Bellino recorded the third fastest second run among 69 competitors to post a time of 1:22.97 that just over a second and a half off the pace Castleton's Lorenzo Mencaccini. Senior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) moved up four spots on his second run to finish ninth with a time of 1:26.54, while classmate Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) came in 25th with a two-run time of 1:30.96.

Junior Lucas Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) placed 50th in a time of 1:57.13 and classmate Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.), who was ninth following his first run, was unable to complete a second trip down the hill.

Babson will compete in the giant slalom at Sugarloaf beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
