HENNIKER, N.H.—First-year Max Bellino (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) both recorded top-10 results as the Babson College men's alpine ski team finished second in the slalom at Pat's Peak on Saturday.
The Beavers' top three competitors posted a time of 4:38.50 that was just over nine seconds behind Castleton, which recorded its ninth consecutive victory. By virtue of its sixth runner-up finish in nine races, Babson clinched second place in the MacConnell Division standings for the fourth consecutive season.
Bellino posted a two-run time of 1:31.57 to take sixth place, while Beardsley crossed the finish line in 1:32.17 to finish right behind him in seventh. Senior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) finished 12th with a time of 1:34.76 and first-year Finn Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in 16th in a time of 1:35.99.
Junior Henness Hoffmann (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) came in 18th with a time of 1:37.41 and the trio of junior Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.), sophomore Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) and first-year Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) were separated by just 0.51 seconds in 20th through 22nd position.
Babson concludes the regular season with another slalom race at Pat's Peak on Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
