Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—First-year Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds and sophomores Camille Minor (Kingston, Mass.) and Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) combined for 23 points and added six boards apiece as No. 16/18 Babson College overpowered Emerson College, 91-47, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action Wednesday evening inside Staake Gymnasium.

With the win, Babson has won 10 of its last 12 games to improve to 17-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while Emerson dropped its second straight NEWMAC game and fell to 7-13 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Perreault connected on 8-of-10 shots while Minor made 5-of-7 from the field and Silk converted 4-of-5, all three players leading the way coming off the Beaver bench. Senior Samantha Smith (Greenfield, Mass.) led the starters with eight points and five rebounds while classmate Megan Bauman (East Lyme, Conn.) collected six points, eight rebounds and a career-high 11 assists on the way to becoming Babson's all-time assist leader.

Junior Olivia Deslauriers (West Hartford, Conn.) topped the visitors with 10 points while sophomore Devin Hill (Edgartown, Mass.) contributed eight points and juniors Ella Bushee (Walpole, N.H.), Ava Salti (Melville, N.Y.) and Quinn O'Connor (Bethlehem, Pa.) added six points apiece.

Babson never trailed in the game after starting out with a 5-0 lead on a Smith jumper and a three-pointer by junior Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.), but the Lions stayed within two possessions most of the first quarter. Minor came off the bench for the Beavers with eight first-quarter points and two assists in a four-minute span, going 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line, to lift the Beavers to a 22-15 lead after the first 10 minutes.

Minor drained a three-pointer to open the second-quarter scoring, extending the Babson lead to double digits and Perreault followed with a layup to give the Beavers a 12-point margin, 27-15. Emerson got as close as seven points (31-24) on a Salti three-ball with five minutes on the clock, but the Beavers closed out the half with a 10-4 run, led by four points from Bauman, to take a 41-28 margin into the locker room.

After Hill hit the opening bucket of the third quarter for Emerson, Babson ran off 20 unanswered points to take full control of the game. Eight different Beaver players contributed points to the rally, with Perreault and Silk leading the way with four points each and first-year Allessia Carlo (Carmel, N.Y.) capping the run with a three-pointer to make it 61-30 with 22:23 to go in the quarter.

Gibbons stopped the Babson streak with a three-pointer for the Lions with 1:56 on the clock. After the teams traded a pair of free throws, the Beavers added six straight points before a Deslauriers layup right before the horn made it a 69-37 margin after three quarters.

Babson was able to get many of the reserves in the game for the fourth quarter and 13 different players got into the scoring column.

The Green and White finished with a 50.7 shooting percentage while holding Emerson to a 32.8 clip. The hosts had a whopping 58-17 advantage on the glass, holding the Lions to just one offensive rebound.

Both teams play conference games again on Saturday as Babson hosts Wheaton at 1 p.m. and Emerson visits MIT for a 3 p.m. affair.
