Women's Basketball Hosts Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament Beginning Friday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    Babson will welcome Colby, Oneonta and Susquehanna to Staake Gymnasium for the fifth edition of the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament on Friday and Saturday. 
•    The tournament features a classic format for the third consecutive season with the Beavers hosting Susquehanna on Friday and Oneonta on Saturday. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Susquehanna

•    First meeting

vs. Oneonta
•    Babson is 1-0 all-time against the Red Dragons. 
•    The Beavers got 24 points and 14 rebounds from Nicki Wurdeman '12 and 13 points and 13 boards from Kathleen King '12 in a 61-50 win over Oneonta on December 21, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nev. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-5) dropped its final two games of the first semester and is coming off a 64-61 loss to unbeaten Framingham State on December 6. 
•    Senior Kelly Walsh scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter and junior Katelyn Molica added 13 points and three steals for the Beavers, who pulled even with less than three minutes to go after trailing by as many as 12 in the first half. 
•    Walsh (18.0 pts, 4.6 reb, 4.2 ast, 2.3 stl) has scored 20 or more points in five of her last six outings, Mollica (13.0 pts, 3.4 reb, 2.2 ast) is shooting 42.4 percent from beyond the arc and junior Abby Miller (8.5 pts, 3.0 reb, 2.9 ast) has connected on 53.2 percent of her two-point field goal attempts. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 66.7 points on 41.1 percent shooting and owns a +4.8 margin on the glass. 

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
•    Susquehanna (5-4) snapped a two-game losing steak with a 59-49 win over Lebanon Valley on December 19. 
•    Julia Roth and Kaitlyn Lynch both scored 18 points and Grace Meehan came off the bench to contribute 11 points for the River Hawks, who trailed by as many as 11 before outscoring the Dutchwomen 21-7 in the fourth quarter. 
•    Roth (14.1 pts, 8.2 reb, 2.9 stl) is shooting 52.1 percent and ranks 23rd nationally pulling down 4.6 offensive boards per game, Lynch (10.7 reb, 4.8 reb) has scored in double figures six times this winter and Kenzie Selvaggie is contributing 7.3 points and has made a team-high 13 three-pointers. 
•    Susquehanna is pulling down 13.3 offensive rebounds per contest but has been held to 62 points or fewer seven times in nine games. 

SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS
•    Oneonta (2-5) has dropped three straight games and suffered an 84-51 loss at Cobleskill to conclude the first semester back on December 6. 
•    Jenna Harclerode scored 10 points and Amanda Zuntag added eight points for the Red Dragons, who went just 1-of-14 from three-point range and committed a season-high 17 turnovers. 
•    Molly Stephens is averaging a team-high 8.9 points to go along with 3.1 rebounds, Harclerode (8.0 pts, 6.1 reb) leads the team in rebounding and has scored in double figures in back-to-back games, and Zuntag is contributing 7.6 points and 5.9 boards in seven starts. 
•    Oneonta is averaging 15.9 offensive rebounds but is shooting just 28.5 percent on the year. 

WALSH REACHES 1,000-POINT MILESTONE
•    With her layup eight seconds into the third quarter, Walsh became the 19th player in Babson history to surpass 1,000 points back on December 6 at Framingham State. 
•    She ranks 17th all-time with 1,018 points and her 13.6 points per game average is ninth on the Beavers' all-time list. 

MOVING UP THE CHARTS
•    Walsh is currently fourth in Babson history with 84 three-point field goals and needs just six to join Erin Young '15, Caitlin Boulier '08 and Joanna Maher '03 as the only players in school history with at least 100 triples. 
•    Mollica, who ranks 13th in Division III averaging 3.11 three-pointers per game on the year, is seventh with 83 trifectas and needs just three to pass Angela Botticelli '01 for sixth place. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Walsh has scored in double figures in 18 of her last 19 games going back to February of last season, a run that includes scoring at least 20 points on nine occasions. 
•    Mollica has made at least one three-pointer in every game this season and has finished with at least one steal in seven consecutive games. 
•    Sophomore Chloe Perreault leads the Beavers with 21 offensive rebounds and has collected at least two in all but one game, while senior Rachel McMenemy has pulled down two or more offensive boards in seven of nine contests on the year.
•    Miller has dished out three or more assists in five of her eight starts on the year.
•    First-year Samantha Reale finished with career highs of nine points and six rebounds in the loss at Framingham State.

REMEMBERING JUDY PEARSON
•    Judy Pearson '85 enjoyed a legendary career and became the first woman inducted into the Babson College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991. She was the first woman in program history to exceed 1,000 career points and her career average 20.9 points per game is still a school record more than 30 years later.
•    Pearson ended her career with 1,758 points, which is good for fourth in program history, 814 rebounds and 189 steals. She also owns a school record with 530 made free throws and her 9.69 rebounds per game ranks third on Babson's all-time list.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 20-3 at home going back to the end of the 2021-22 campaign. 
•    Babson is 4-1 this season and 39-5 over the last three years when leading after the first quarter.
•    The Green and White is 3-0 this winter and 22-3 since the start of last season when shooting 40 percent or better.
•    Babson is 22-1 going back to the start of last year when outrebounding its opponents.
