SERIES HISTORY
vs. Elmira

• Babson is 8-6-0 all-time against the Soaring Eagles in a series that dates back to 1977-78.
• The Beavers have won three in a row and four of the last five against the Soaring Eagles, covering the last two seasons.
• The Green and White have taken all three games against Elmira in Babson Park dating back to 2014.
vs. Hobart
• Babson is 11-9-5 all-time against the Statesmen in a series that dates back to the 1987-88 season.
• The Statesmen captured all three games against Babson last season, including the NEHC championship game in Geneva, N.Y.
• The Green and White are 0-3-2 against Hobart in the Babson Skating Center since a 4-2 win over the Statemen back on October 30, 2015.

LAST MEETING
vs. Elmira

• Senior Thomas Kramer scored the go-ahead goal at 19:49 of the second period and sophomore Ian Driscoll added a goal and an assist to help 11th-ranked Babson defeat visiting Elmira, 4-2, on January 13, 2023 inside the Babson Skating Center.
• Sophomores Tommy Rooney and Mike Stevens each had a goal for the Beavers, while Max Torrez '23M, senior Colby Bailey, junior Matt Cormier and sophomores Nolan Dion, Brendan Kennedy and Ryan Murphy all recorded an assist. Nolan Hildebrand '23 made 28 saves in goal in the win.
• Senior Bailey Krawczyk scored twice, and classmates Amedeo Mastrangeli and Janis Vizbelis collected assists for the Soaring Eagles, who got 26 saves from sophomore Kyle Curtin.
vs. Hobart
• Junior Luke Aquaro scored two goals and senior Jonah Alexander tallied a goal and two assists as second-ranked/top-seeded Hobart defeated No. 13 and third-seeded Babson, 5-1, in the NEHC championship game on March 4, 2023 in Geneva, N.Y.
• Kennedy scored the lone goal for the Beavers, an unassisted strike in the second period, and Hildebrand finished with 37 saves in the setback.
• Sophomore Tanner Daniels and Zach Tyson '23M also scored for the Statesmen in the win. Junior Shane Shell collected two assists and seniors Matthieu Wuth and Artem Buzoverya registered one assist each while sophomore Damon Beaver made 14 saves in goal.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (0-3-1, 0-0-1 NEHC) enters the weekend looking for its first victory of the season after a pair of overtime games last weekend, a 4-4 tie against Southern Maine on Friday in the NEHC opener and a 6-5 setback at No. 8 Plymouth State on Saturday.
• Sophomore Egan Schmitt led the Beavers with a goal and an assist in the loss to Plymouth State while Bailey and Murphy, Stevens and fellow sophomore Sam Sibold scored one goal each. Kennedy finished with two assists and first-years CJ Beals and Jimmy Fallon both added a helper for their first collegiate points. Sophomore Nate Mueller  made 17 saves in his second start of the year.
• Schmitt (2-2-4) has the early team scoring lead through four games while Murphy (3-0-3) tops the squad in goals and Kennedy (0-3-3) is the team assist leader in assists. Junior Wyatt George (2-1-3) scored twice in the tie against Southern Maine and Dion (0-2-2) has assists in his last two outings.
• Mueller (4.61 GAA, .816 Sv. Pct.) and first-year Mason Rosado (3.84 GAA, .852) have split time between the pipes for the Beavers.

SCOUTING THE SOARING EAGLES
• No. 10 Elmira (4-0-0, 2-0-0 NEHC) opened its season with four straight victories, including a sweep last weekend over NEHC foes New England College, 4-0, and No. 6 Norwich, 5-4 in overtime, in Pine Valley, N.Y.
• Vizbelis combined for three goals in the two games for the Soaring Eagles, while senior Nicholas Domitrovic added a goal and two assists in each game and classmate Ryan Reifler scored once in each contest. Senior Jordan Gonzalez scored the OT game-winner against Norwich to cap the weekend sweep. Curtin made 22 saves to post the shutout against NEC and finished with 37 saves in the victory over Norwich.
• Domitrovic (4-5-9) and Vizbelis (5-2-7) are off to hot starts for Elmira and rank 1-2 in the NEHC in scoring. Seniors Shawn Kennedy (1-5-6) and Bailey Krawczyk (1-4-5) each have at least a point in three straight games and classmate Amedeo Mastrangeli has at least one assist in all four games.
• Curtin (2.22 GAA, .929 sv. pct) has held down the net in all four games and leads the NEHC in wins and saves.

SCOUTING THE STATESMEN
• Defending national champion and No. 1 Hobart (3-1-0, 2-0-0 MASCAC) has posted three straight shutout victories since a season-opening 3-2 overtime loss to Oswego State, including whitewashes over No. 6 Norwich (3-0) last Friday and NEC (7-0) on Saturday.
• Beaver made 20 saves in the shutout over Norwich, and sophomores Ignat Belov, Kahlil Fontana and Tanner Hartman scored one goal each. Sophomore Mavrick Goyer made 15 saves to blank NEC while Aquaro and first-year Logan Gotinsky notched two goals each and first-year Bauer Morrissey and seniors Wil Crane and Austin Mourar scored one apiece.
• The Statesmen featured a balanced scoring with Aquaro (4-2-6) leading the team in goals and points and four players posting four points each – Gotinsky (3-1-4), Belov (2-2-4), Morrissey (1-3-4) and Buzoverya (0-4-4). First-year Chris Duclair (3-0-3) is tied for second on the team in goals.
• Beaver (1.49 GAA, .948 sv. pct), the 2023 NEHC Rookie of the Year, and Goyer (0.00 GAA, 1.000 sv. pct) give the Statemen a tremendous 1-2 in goal, combining for three shutouts in the first four games.

SKATING ON HOME ICE
• The Beavers skated to a 4-4 tie against Southern Maine in their home opener last Friday.
• The Green and White finished 9-3-1 at the Babson Skating Center in 2022-23 and have a 24-5-4 mark since the start of the Covid-shortened 2020-21 campaign.
• Babson is 50-15-6 on home ice since 2017-18 and 94-18-11 at home since February of 2013.

TOP OPPONENTS
• The Beavers will play games against two top-10 team this weekend, on the heels of a contest at then-No. 8 Plymouth State last weekend.
• Babson will have at least seven games this season against nationally-ranked teams including No. 1 Hobart, No. 10 Elmira, No. 11 Norwich and No. 6 Plymouth State.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers went 15-2-1 last season when scoring the first goal of the game and finished 17-2-1 when scoring at least three goals.
• The Green and White were 10-1-1 when leading after the first period and 13-1-0 when ahead after two frames.
• Babson finished 16-3-1 when allowing two goals or less last year and is 76-3-7 since 2017-18 when allowing no more than two goals.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will play their first two NEHC road games next weekend, visiting Johnson & Wales on Friday and UMass Boston on Saturday.
