No. 16/18 Women's Basketball vs. Emerson

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 13-1 all-time against Emerson in a series that dates back to 2014.
• All but one of Babson's 13 wins in the all-time series have come by at least 10 points.
• Emerson's only win in the series was a 66-52 decision on January 30, 2019 in Brown & Plofker Gymnasium.
• The Beavers are 8-0 vs. the Lions in Staake Gymnasium.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Samantha Smith scored a game-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting to lead second-seeded Babson to a 73-49 victory over seventh-seeded Emerson in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament quarterfinal on February 23, 2022 inside Staake Gymnasium.
• Senior Megan Bauman added 13 points and seven assists for the Beavers while sophomore Anika Chinthakunta finished with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Babson got strong bench play as sophomore Camilla Silk scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds while junior Madison Odam added five points and nine boards.
• Senior Chelsea Gibbons provided the highlights for the visitors, scoring 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. Katie Beckman '22 added eight points and a team-high seven boards and junior Olivia Deslauriers contributed seven points and four assists.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 16 d3hoops.com/18 WBCA Babson (16-3, 3-1) is looking to get back on track after suffering a 71-61 defeat at Springfield last Saturday.
• Bauman matched her career-high with 25 points for the Beavers, connecting on 8-of-15 from the floor and adding six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Smith registered her sixth double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in the loss.
• Bauman (13.8 pts, 4.9 ast, 3.7 reb) ranks 27th in Division III in assists per game, Smith (11.6 pts, 7.9 reb, 2.3 blocks) is second in the NEWMAC in blocked shots, and Walsh (11.1 pts, 4.3 reb) has scored in double figures in 13 of her 18 outings this season. Sophomore Katelyn Mollica has made at least one three-pointer in eight of her last nine games, including a 5-for-6 performance last week in a loss to No. 17/20 Trinity.
• The Beavers led the NEWMAC and are ranked 22nd in Division III in fewest turnovers (13.5 per game).

SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (7-12, 2-2) is coming off an 83-63 setback at home to WPI last Saturday.
• Junior Olivia Deslauriers led the Lions with 16 points while senior Carla Pelino contributed 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists and junior Ella Bushee chipped in with 10 points in the setback. Senior Chelsea Gibbons also recorded nine points, seven boards, four assists and four steals.
• Bushee (12.9 pts, 4.8 reb) has scored in double figures in her last four games, including a career-high 26 points in a win over New England College, while Deslauriers (9.7 pts, 3.3 reb, 2.6 ast) is averaging 11.5 points in her four NEWMAC games this season. Sophomore Devin Hill (9.6 pts, 5.3 reb) and Gibbons (9.3 pts, 5.7 reb, 2.6 ast) are also solid contributors to the offense.
• The Lions are surrendering 70.6 points per game this season but just 61.5 points per outing in the four NEWMAC contests.

BEAVERS VS. THE LIONS
• Bauman is averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor in three career games against Emerson.
• Smith is averaging 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent in three games against the Lions while Walsh averaged 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists and shot 57.1 percent in two games last season.

SHARP SHOOTING FROM THE LINE
• Babson made all 15 attempts from the free throw line in the loss at Springfield and now rank 12th in Division III with a 75.0 percent rate from the stripe.
• The Beavers have been perfect from line in four games this season following three previous performances against Brandeis (17-17), Middlebury (12-12) and Springfield (7-7).
• The Green and White are 9-1 this season when making more free throws than the opponent.

THE COMFORTS OF HOME
• Wednesday's game is the sixth Beaver contest in the last eight games at Staake Gymnasium, with another to follow on Saturday vs. Wheaton.
• The Green and White are 8-1 inside Staake Gymnasium this season and have gone 26-4 at home since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

MOVING ON UP
• Bauman needs seven assists to tie Giovanna Pickering '17 for most assists in program history (376).
• Bauman also needs just two points to match Laurie Hornik '88 for 14th place on Babson's career scoring list with 1,061 points. Her next target is Suzy Ward '07, who is 13th with 1,079 points.
• Smith's needs just one blocked shot to become the eighth player in program history to record at least 100 blocked shots.

BY THE NUMBERS
• The Beavers are 14-0 on the year and have won their last 21 games when holding their opponents below 40 percent shooting.
• Babson is 15-2 this season and has won 28 of its last 33 games when scoring at least 60 points.
• Babson is 12-1 this winter and 75-2 since 2018-19 when carrying the lead into the fourth quarter.
• The Green and White is 15-2 since the start of last season when making at least six three-pointers.

A LOOK AHEAD
• Babson will be back at Staake Gymnasium on Saturday to host Wheaton in a conference affair at 1 p.m.
