WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's alpine ski teams travel to Lake Placid, N.Y., to compete in a pair of giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain on Friday and Saturday.
• The GS races will be the first of the year for the Beavers and their MacConnell Division counterparts after last weekend's event at West Mountain was postponed.
LAST TIME AT WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN
• Both Babson's men and women placed third in the giant slalom, fourth in the slalom and third in the combined standings at the USCSA National Championships in Lake Placid last March.
• Junior Caroline Haaijer earned three All-America awards and sophomore Amalie Alkier took home a pair of honors in the GS and combined to lead the Babson women, while Victor Wiacek '22 collected All-America accolades in the GS (10th), slalom (14th) and combined (7th) to pace the men's squad.
SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers recorded their third consecutive second-place finish in the slalom under the lights at Willard Mountain.
• Junior Ryan Beardsley came in second, first-year Max Bellino was fourth, junior Kyle Wolff took fifth and first-year Finn Horsley finished 10th for the Green and White, which was just over a second behind first-place Castleton.
• Beardsley is fourth in the MacConnell Division standings and has opened the season with three straight top-six finishes, Bellino (6th) has placed sixth and fourth in his last two races, and Wolff (7th) has finished outside the top 12 just once in 13 league races going back to the start of last winter.
• Horsley, who owns a pair of 10th-place results, and senior Jack Beney, who has recorded three straight top-20 finishes, are tied for 13th in the MacConnell Division standings.
SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers' top three skiers finished nearly a full second ahead of Castleton to record their third consecutive victory in the slalom last Saturday night at Willard Mountain.
• Senior Lauren Abdow posted her second win in a row to lead four top-10 finishers, while Haaijer placed fifth, junior Arianna Barile finished sixth and classmate Maeve Fiske-Mercer took 10th place.
• Abdow boasts three podium finishes and sits atop the MacConnell Division standings, while Haaijer is currently second and has recorded a second and a third in three races this winter.
• Barile, who has finished twice to begin the year, is currently ninth in the league standings, sophomore Caroline Johnson is 10th and Fiske-Mercer is in 13th position thanks to back-to-back top-10 finishes.
ROMAN REPRESENTS IRELAND AT WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES.
• Senior Zach Roman rejoined the Beavers after competing for Ireland at the 2023 World University games in Lake Placid last weekend.
• He was Ireland's top finisher placing 39th in the men's slalom completing two runs with a time of 2:07.60 last Saturday at Whiteface.
SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL RESULTS AT WHITEFACE
• In seven career GS races at Whiteface Mountain, Beney boasts a pair of top-10 results and has never finished worse than 20th.
• Roman has posted three top-10 finishes and sophomore Ethan Carpenter placed seventh and ninth in two regular season races last winter.
• Haaijer and Alkier both own three top-15 finishes in three career giant slalom races at Whiteface, while Abdow has posted four top-10 showings.

• Babson heads to West Mountain in Queensbury, N.Y. to compete in the giant slalom on February 4-5.
