ANDOVER, N.H.—Junior Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) was one of three competitors to record a top-10 finish as the Babson College men's alpine ski team opened its 2023 season with a second-place showing in the slalom at Proctor Ski Area on Saturday.
The Beavers' top three skiers finished just over 16 seconds behind first-place Castleton, which claimed three of the top four spots among MacConnell Division skiers on the individual leaderboard.
Beardsley posted a two-run time of 1:35.78 to come in sixth overall, while first-year Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) placed eighth overall with a time of 1:37.49 in his collegiate debut. Classmate Finn Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished 10th with a total time of 1:37.83.
Senior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) placed 11th overall with a time of 1:39.08, which was just 0.19 seconds ahead of junior Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.) who came in 12th. Fellow junior Henness Hoffmann (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) finished 17th with a two-run time of 1:40.91.
Babson returns to action on Sunday with a second slalom race at Proctor beginning at 9:30 a.m.
