• Senior Megan Bauman poured in 23 points and junior Kelly Walsh came off the bench to score 13 second-half points to lead the Beavers to a 70-53 win over Springfield in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on February 25, 2022, in Babson Park.
• Senior Samantha Smith scored nine points and junior Madison Odam, who led all players with 12 rebounds, and sophomore Kiara Simone Davis both chipped in with seven points for Babson, which shot 46.2 percent.
• Senior Sam Hourihan scored 18 points and sophomore Angela Czeremcha chipped in with 10 points and four steals for the Pride, which shot a season-low 27.8 percent from the field.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 12/14 Babson (11-1) is riding a four-game winning streak after defeating No. 21/23 Tufts, 78-76, on Sunday in Medford.
• Walsh hit the game-winning layup with 5.7 seconds remaining and scored a game-high 20 points and Bauman added 16 points to lead four players in double figures for the Beavers, who shot 46.2 percent.
• Bauman (13.6 pts, 4.7 ast, 3.1 reb) ranks 33rd in Division III in assists, Smith (12.1 pts, 8.8 reb) leads the team with four double-doubles and Walsh (11.8 pts, 3.7 reb) has scored in double figures nine times over the first 12 games of the season.
• The Green and White is giving up 58.6 points per game while holding opponents to just 34.3 percent shooting on the year.
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Springfield (10-4) has dropped three of its last four games and is coming off a 64-50 loss at Smith on Saturday.
• Hourihan finished with 13 points and nine rebounds and Rachel Vinton contributed 10 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals for the Pride, which was outscored 20-6 in the third quarter.
• Hourihan (17.0 pts, 8.8 reb, 2.7 blocks) leads the NEWMAC with five double-doubles, Vinton (10.6 pts, 6.4 reb, 3.8 ast) is shooting 47.7 percent and Czeremcha (8.4 pts, 7.1 reb) has two double-doubles on the year.
• Springfield is allowing just 54.9 points per game and is holding foes to 34.3 percent shooting.
PRODUCING AGAINST THE PRIDE
• Bauman has averaged 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50.8 percent in five career games against Springfield.
• Walsh averaged 12.3 points, Smith contributed 8.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, and junior Rachel McMenemy put 8.3 points while shooting 73.3 percent in three games against the Pride last winter.
• Odam averaged 6.0 points and 8.7 rebounds, while Davis chipped in with 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in three meetings against Springfield during the 2021-22 campaign.
WELCOME HOME
• After playing just four of its first 12 games at home, Wednesday's matchup with Springfield is the first of five straight contests inside Staake Gymnasium over the next two weeks for the Beavers.
• Babson is unbeaten at home this season and has gone 22-3 inside the friendly confines of Staake Gymnasium since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
BEAVER BITES
• Bauman is averaging 14.6 points on 56.8 percent shooting over the last five games, while Walsh, who was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Monday, is putting up 14.3 points on 50 percent shooting over her last four games dating back to December 21.
• Sophomore Katelyn Mollica scored all 12 of her points in Sunday's win at Tufts in the second half.
• Sophomore Abby Miller is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc and has made at least one three-pointer in seven of the last nine games.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Although Wednesday's tilt will not count in the NEWMAC standings, the Beavers have gone 35-7 against conference foes since 2018-19.
• Babson is 8-0 this season and 71-1 since 2018-19 when carrying a lead into the fourth quarter.
