SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers are 9-10-0 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to 1965.
• Babson is 1-3-0 against the Jumbos since 2017, with all of the previous encounters coming prior to 2001.
• The last win for the Green and White was a 2-0 verdict at Hartwell-Rogers Field on October 8, 2019, snapping a four-game losing streak in the series.
LAST MEETING
• Alex Ratzan '22 broke a scoreless deadlock in the 107th minute as No. 4/2 Tufts defeated No. 21 Babson, 1-0, on September 28 at Hartwell-Rogers Field. The Jumbos extended their unbeaten streak to 19 matches going back to 2019.
• Itai Rubin '22 finished with five saves for the Beavers, who were outshot 25-14.
• Aidan Welsh '22 picked up an assist for the Jumbos, who got three saves from sophomore keeper Erik Lauta.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 14 Babson (5-2-1) is coming off a 3-1 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory over Emerson on Saturday at Hartwell Rogers Field.
• Senior Ryan Grund knocked in a goal for the Beavers in the 15th minute and junior Shamar Rainford and senior Ross Shellow added goals 12 minutes apart around halftime in the victory. Sophomore keeper Walker White earned the win in goal with one save in 76 minutes of action.
• Graduate student Ben Williams (4-1-9) scored four goals in his first five games while sophomore Louis Gazo (2-3-7) and Rainford (3-1-7) are tied for second on the team in scoring. Graduate student Ryan Goss (1-4-6) and Rhatigan (0-4-4) share the team lead in assists.
• White (1.34 GAA, .688 sv. pct., 22 svs.) has started all eight games in goal for the Beavers.
SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
• No. 19 Tufts (3-2-2) is looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss at No. 19 Hamilton in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest last Saturday in Clinton, N.Y. Tufts was ranked No. 10 by D3soccer.com last week and was No. 5 in Week 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Division III poll.
• Lauta made six saves for the Jumbos, who were outshot 23-10 by the Continentals.
• Senior Ian Daly (5-2-12), who has a pair of two-goal games, leads the team in scoring. First-year Daniel Yanez (2-1-5) and junior Mikey Brady (2-0-4) are also multi-goal scorers for the Jumbos, who are averaging two goals a game.
• Lauta (1.00 GAA, .788 sv. pct., 26 svs.) has played all but two minutes in goal this season for Tufts.
SCORING SURGE
• After producing 24 goals all of last season and finishing seventh in the NEWMAC in scoring, the Beavers have scored 21 goals through eight games and lead the conference in scoring.
• Senior Jack Dugan (3-4-10) and Giancarlo Arguello '22 (4-1-9) topped the team in scoring in 2021; Williams has matched Arguello's goal total in seven games this fall and Rainford and senior Samuel Smith (3-0-6) are one goal shy.
BABSON VS. THE NESCAC
• Tuesday's game is the third of four Babson games this season against schools from the NESCAC, three of which are against last year's NCAA Tournament quarterfinalists and two of which faced off in the national championship game.
• Babson is 0-1-1 against the NESCAC this season with a 1-1 draw against Williams on September 11 and a 3-1 setback to defending national runner-up Amherst last Tuesday. The Beavers will also defending national champion Connecticut College on October 12.
COMMON OPPONENTS
• Babson and Tufts have two common opponents from this season, Amherst and Williams.
• The Jumbos are 1-0-1 in their two contests, defeating Amherst 3-2 on September 17 and tying Williams 2-2 the next day, both games on the road in western Massachusetts.
NOT AFRAID OF THE ROAD
• The Beavers are 2-1 in road games this season and 8-3 going back to the start of last season.
• The Green and White are 19-9-4 since the start of 2018 and 48-25-8 away from home since 2012.
