Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Shamar Rainford (Randolph, Mass.) and senior Ross Shellow (Miami, Fla.) scored goals 12 minutes apart around halftime to help No. 14/22 Babson College to a 3-1 victory over Emerson College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMCAA) men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

With the win, Babson improves to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the NEWMAC while Emerson suffers its first loss of the season and falls to 4-1-3 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.

Senior Ryan Grund (Princeton Junction, N.J.) also scored for the Beavers and graduate student Ryan Goss (Glastonbury, Conn.), seniors Eamon Keenan (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Mitchell Collins (Burlington, Mass.) and junior Liam Rhatigan (Holderness, N.H.) collected assists. Sophomore keeper Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) earned the win in goal with one save in 76 minutes of action and junior Mack Lemkau (Bedford, N.Y.) went unchallenged in 14 minutes off the bench.

Graduate student Skyler Stark Ragsdale (Missoula, Mont.) hit a loose ball from the top of the 20-yard box into the top right corner past a leaping White for his second goal of the season. First-year keeper Matthew Mueller (Chevy Chase, Md.) made three saves in goal in the setback.

The Beavers took the lead in the 15th minute after Goss delivered a corner kick from the right side. An Emerson defender knocked down the ball near the left post and Grund spun around and buried the ball into the left side of the goal for his second goal of the season.

The Green and White doubled their lead in the 41st minute when Keenan took a loose ball of the left side near the top of the box and sent a diagonal pass to the right post, where Rhatigan got a piece of it before Rainford finished the play for his third goal of the season.

Shellow tacked on Babson's third goal in the 53rd minute when he received a crossing pass from Collins on the right side and buried a shot from 20 yards out into the lower right corner of the goal.

Emerson got on the board in the 77th minute when Stark Ragsdal fired a loose ball from the 18-yard box into the upper right corner of the box for his second goal of the season.

Babson finished with a 16-5 margin in shots and a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.
