LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Junior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) produced the team's top time on each run and was among three competitors to earn All-America honors as the Babson College men's alpine ski team finished third in the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Whiteface Mountain.

The Beavers posted a team time of 6:38.59 to record their second podium finish and third top-five result in four seasons at nationals. Sierra Nevada took first with a time of 6:22.34 and Rocky Mountain was second at 6:34.56. Babson's MacConnell Division rivals Clarkson (6:45.92) and Castleton (6:48.14) came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Roman was in 11th place after his first run and moved up four spots his second time down the mountain to finish in seventh place with a two-run time of 2:12.15. Senior Victor Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) was just over a half-second behind him in 10th position with a time of 2:12.75 and sophomore Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.) recorded a time of 2:12.69 to place 12th overall.

Wiacek claimed his second USCSA All-America in the GS, while Roman and Wolff both earned the first honors of their respective careers.

Sophomore Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) was 15th after his first run but was unable to finish his second trip down the hill. Classmate Lucas Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) did not finish his first run on Wednesday.

Babson returns to action on Friday when it competes in the slalom at 9:30 a.m.
