Alpine Skiing at the NCAA East Regionals

WHAT TO KNOW
• Four men and four women from the Babson alpine ski teams will step away from USCSA competition to compete in the NCAA East Regionals on Friday and Saturday at Cannon Mountain.
• The Beavers will compete in the giant slalom on Friday and the slalom on Saturday.
2020 NCAA EAST REGIONALS RECAP
• The Babson men placed 14th in the slalom and 15th in the giant slalom, whiel the women's squad placed 15th in both the GS and the slalom at the Middlebury Snow Bowl on February 28-29.
MEN'S COMPETITORS
• Sophomore Ryan Beardsley won the giant slalom last Sunday at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships and owns six top-five results in 12 races this winter.
• Sophomore Lucas Wiacek placed fifth in the slalom at USCSA regionals and also placed fifth in the final MacConnell Division standings, one spot behind Beardsley.
• Sophomore Kyle Wolff finished 10th in the GS and 18th in the slalom last weekend, which was good for eighth position in the combined standings.
• Junior Jack Beney, who was one of five Babson skiers to finish among the top 11 in the MacConnell Division regular season standings, came in 14th int eh slalom and 17th in the GS at USCSA regionals.
WOMEN'S COMPETITORS
• Junior Lauren Abdow finished third in the MacConnell Division standings and has won three of her last four races, which includes a victory in the GS at the USCSA Eastern Regionals last weekend. She also placed fourth in the slalom and was first in the combined standings.
• Sophomore Caroline Haaijer came in second in the slalom and seventh in the giant slalom at the USCSA regionals after coming in seventh on the MacConnell Division regular season table.
• Sophomore Caroline Johnson placed seventh in the slalom and 13th in the GS, while first-year Amelie Alkier was fifth in the slalom and 15th in the giant slalom last weekend at Sugarloaf.
UP NEXT
• Following runner-up finishes by both teams last weekend, Babson will travel to Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y., the week of March 7.
