Beavers Take First in Saturday's GS, Place Third in Regular Season Finale on Sunday

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—Junior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) and sophomore Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.) recorded back-to-back finishes in the giant slalom as the Babson College men's alpine ski team posted its third victory of the season on Saturday and added a third-place result on Sunday at West Mountain.

The Beavers grabbed four of the top five spots on the individual leaderboard on Saturday and secured their third straight runner-up finish in the MacConnell Division by virtue of Sunday's third-place result. Overall, the Green and White has now come in second in the league in five of the last six competitive seasons dating back to 2016.

Sophomore Lucas Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) was less than a second off the top spot and posted a time of 1:49.48 to finish second ahead of classmate Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) by 0.66 seconds. Roman came in fifth in a time of 1:50.75 and Wolff was right behind him in fifth place.

Sophomore Kyle Goldberg (Manchester, N.H.) recorded his top finish of the season placing ninth with a two-run time of 1:53.89, while sophomore John Folkman (Saint Paul, Minn.) finished a season-best 10th just 0.02 seconds behind him.

Roman was the Beavers' top finisher on Sunday, finishing two runs in a time of 1:53.15 to grab fourth place. Wolff placed sixth in 1:53.55, while sophomore Henness Hoffman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) posted a time of 1:53.99 to finish a season-best seventh.

Beardsley placed 11th in a time of 1:54.64, which was 0.09 seconds ahead of junior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.). Senior Victor Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) came in 23rd overall.

Babson travels to Carrabassett Valley, Maine, to compete in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf on February 19-20.
