WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's alpine ski teams return to West Mountain for the second weekend in a row to wrap up the regular season with a pair of giant slalom races.
• The top five teams in the MacConnell Division standings will punch their ticket to the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships on February 19-20 at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.
SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers placed second in both slalom races at West Mountain on February 5-6.
• Junior Lauren Abdow placed second overall on Sunday, sophomore Caroline Haaijer recorded a pair of top-10 finishes and senior Julia Martin and first-year Amelie Alkier both posted back-to-back top-15 results for the Green and White.
• Haaijer enters the final weekend of the regular season tied for fifth in the league standings, while Abdow is just behind her in seventh place.
• Alkier (11th), Martin (12th) and sophomore Caroline Johnson (15th) give the Beavers five skiers ranked in the top 15.
SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
• Following a third-place finish last Saturday, the Beavers recorded their first victory in the slalom and second overall in eight races last Sunday at West Mountain.
• Sophomore Lucas Wiacek recorded a pair of top-five results and came in fourth in Sunday's victory behind junior Zach Roman, who posted the first second-place finish of his career, and sophomore Ryan Beardsley, who came in third for his first collegiate podium finish.
• Beardsley (4th), Lucas Wiacek (6th), sophomore Kyle Wolff (8th) and junior Jack Beney (10th) give the team four of the top 10 skiers in the MacConnell Division standings.
• Roman and first-year Zach Carpenter, who did not compete in either race last weekend, rank 11th and 13th, respectively, entering the final weekend of the regular season.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
• The Babson women have finished second behind Castleton in all eight races this winter and will finish second in the final league standings for the second consecutive season and fourth time in five years going back to 2017.
• The Babson men enter the final weekend one point behind first-place Castleton and three points ahead of third-place Clarkson. The MacConnell Division drops the two lowest scores for each team so the Beavers will likely need to win both GS races to secure their first title since 1993.
LOOKING AHEAD
• Babson's men and women have already secured their spot in next weekend's regionals for the 14th consecutive season and 18th time going back to 2003.
• The Babson women are to make their seventh straight USCSA Eastern Regional Championships appearance next weekend at Sugarloaf.
