Box Score Black and Egan Combine for Seven Points as Beavers Win Regular Season Home Finale
BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Ryan Black (Pomfret, Conn.) scored once and matched his season high with four points to help No. 8 Babson College defeat visiting University of Southern Maine, 4-1, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action on Friday night inside the Babson Skating Center.
With its second consecutive win, Babson improves to 15-5-2 overall and 10-5-2 in league play. Southern Maine dropped its fifth game in a row to slip to 7-12-1 overall and 5-9-1 in the NEHC.
Senior Mike Egan (Billerica, Mass.) had a three-point night with two goals and one assist, while sophomore Thomas Kramer (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored once for the Beavers. Classmate Colby Bailey (Southborough, Mass.) chipped in with two assists and seniors John Corrigan (Stoneham, Mass.) and Cam Schmitt (Andover, Mass.) added an assist apiece in the win.
Fellow senior Aidan Murphy (Walpole, Mass.) earned his third win in four starts this winter by stopping 27 shots for Babson.
Senior Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, Quebec) had a goal and sophomore Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass.) picked up an assist for the Huskies. Senior Anthony D'Aloisio (Frisco, Texas) made 37 saves in the loss.
Following a scoreless opening period, the Green and White jumped in front 24 seconds into the second when Egan put away Black's centering pass from behind the net for his 11th goal of the season. The Beavers doubled their advantage less than four minutes later as Black ripped a shot past D'Aloisio from the left wing circle for his team-leading 16th tally of the year.
Southern Maine cut its deficit to 2-1 at the 7:24 mark of the second as Bartuccio-Pareira's scored his second goal of the season with a blast from the top of the right circle that deflected off the pipe. Babson killed off a penalty early in the third without allowing a shot and then put the game away with a pair of late goals.
Kramer put away a pass from Black past D'Aloisio on the power play to make it 3-1 at 13:46 and Egan notched his second goal of the night with a one-timer from the left circle of a feed from Schmitt at 16:52 for the final margin.
Murphy made 14 of his 27 saves in the opening period, including six during a Southern Maine power play just over six minutes in. The Beavers outshot the Huskies 37-28 for the game and went 1-for-1 on the power play while killing off all three of their penalties.
Babson will travel to Southern Maine for the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday at 4 p.m.

• The Beavers are now 33-9-1 all-time against Southern Maine, which includes 19 wins in the last 20 games between the teams.
• With four points on Friday night Black now has 106 for his career and joins Jamas LaFreniere '06, Sam Vatrano '06 and Johnny Kim '06 as the only Babson players since 2000 to produce multiple 30-point seasons.
• Corrigan's 15 assists are now the third most by a Babson defenseman going back to 2011 behind only Mike Vollmin '16, who had 19 in 2014-15, and Ben Kravitz '14, who collected 17 in 2012-13.
• Egan has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points while scoring in all six career games against Southern Maine, while Black has points in his last five contests against the Huskies.
