Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Kelly Walsh (Goffstown, N.H.) hit 6-of-12 shots and registered team-high totals of 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots and 12 players scored at least two points as No. 9/9 Babson College ran past Endicott College, 76-51, Saturday afternoon on day two of the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament inside Staake Gymnasium.

Babson posted its third straight win to improve to 10-1 on the year, while Endicott dropped its fifth game in a row and fell to 3-7 overall.

Sophomore Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and 4-of-8 shots overall and finished with 12 points for the Beavers. Classmate Abby Miller (Millis, Mass.) also drained a pair of threes to finish with nine points in 14 minutes off the bench, senior Samantha Smith (Greenfield, Mass.) contributed eight points and five boards, and sophomore Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with six points and five rebounds in the win.

Sophomore Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led all players with 17 points and nine rebounds for the Gulls, converting 8-of-16 shots from the field. Senior Cassie Caldwell (Marshfield, Mass.) made three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals, while classmate Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) was held to nine points, six below her team-leading average, and six rebounds.

After Endicott held a 10-6 lead midway through the first quarter, Babson closed out the frame with 14 unanswered points to take a 20-10 advantage into the first break. Miller and sophomore Kiara Simone Davis (Coral Springs, Fla.) both hit 3-pointers to spark the Beaver rally.

Dempsey hit three straight buckets for Endicott to start the second quarter to pull the Gulls to within four points, but Babson answered with nine in a row, capped by a Silk layup to put the hosts up 29-16 with three minutes to go in the quarter. Mollica and first-year Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) drained back-to-back long balls to put the Beavers up 37-20 with a minute to go and Walsh added a three-point play and a late put-back to make it a 42-25 margin at the intermission.

The Gulls got as close as 16 points in the third quarter after a Dempsey free throw but Babson took its first 20-point margin, 48-28, on a Smith layup with 6:15 on the clock. The Beavers made it a 25-point advantage on a Silk layup after a beautiful feed from sophomore Meghan Goode (Chelmsford, Mass.) with 3:27 remaining, and took a 61-39 bulge into the fourth quarter.

Another Miller 3-pointer pushed the Babson lead back to 25 points to start the final frame, and the Gulls got no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Babson shot 45 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from 3-point range while holding Endicott to a 30.9 percent clip, including 23.5 percent from long range. The visitors managed a 43-42 margin on the boards.

The Beavers return to action on Sunday, January 8 with a visit to No. 19/19 Tufts for a 1 p.m. matinee, while Endicott returns home looking to snap its skid on Tuesday, January 3, against Gordon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference affair.
