Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Sophomore Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) knocked down five three-pointers and led three players in double figures with 17 points as No. 17/17 Babson College defeated Bridgewater State College, 78-56, in the opening round of the Williams College Shooting Touch Tournament on Friday night.
With the win, Babson improves to 5-0 on the year, while Bridgewater State drops to 6-2 overall.
Senior Samantha Smith (Greenfield, Mass.) finished with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, while first-year Allessia Carlo (Carmel, N.Y.) came off the bench to score a season-high 11 points for the Beavers. Senior Megan Bauman (East Lyme, Conn.) added nine points and a game-high seven assists and sophomore Abby Miller (Millis, Mass.) chipped in with nine points, three boards and three assists in the win.
Senior Sydney Bradbury (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored a game-high 18 points and sophomore Kyle Grassi (Plymouth, Mass.) added 11 points and four rebounds to pace the Bears.
Bridgewater State scored on five of its first six possessions to build a 12-9 lead on a layup by Bradbury less than four minutes into the contest. The Green and White responded with an 18-3 run that included a pair of triples by Mollica and four points apiece by Smith and Miller to jump in front 27-15 with 8:48 to go in the second quarter.
The Bears got back within seven on a three-pointer by Bradbury midway through the stanza before the Beavers closed the period with a 12-6 burst to take a 39-26 advantage into the locker room. A triple by Mollica and four quick points by Smith pushed the margin to 15 and Mollica followed a layup by Bauman with five straight points to make it 53-33 at the 6:41 mark of the third.
Carlo and sophomore Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) combined for the final 10 points of the third quarter and Miller canned a three-pointer from the right wing to give Babson its largest lead of the night at 70-37 just 31 seconds into the fourth quarter.
The Beavers shot 48.5 percent from the floor, finished with a 45-36 edge on the glass and turned 20 turnovers by Bridgewater State into 28 points. The Bears shot just 35.5 percent in the loss.
Babson will face Williams in the tournament championship game on Saturday at 3 p.m., while Bridgewater State takes on Keene State in the 1 p.m. consolation game.

• The Beavers are now 18-4 all-time against Bridgewater State.
• Babson has held each of its last four opponents below 36 percent shooting.
• With seven assists in Friday's win, Bauman now has 301 for her career and moved into seventh place on the program's all-time list.
