NEWBURY, N.H.—The Babson College men's alpine ski team followed up a second-place finish in Saturday's slalom race at Pat's Peak by winning the giant slalom at Mount Sunapee on Sunday afternoon.

The victory was the first in MacConnell Division competition since the final race of the 2019 regular season at Proctor for the Beavers, who finished 3.46 seconds ahead of second-place Clarkson University. Castleton University, which finished first ahead of Babson in Saturday's slalom race, was fourth in the GS.

Five skiiers recorded top-10 finishes in the slalom at Pat's Peak, led by sophomore Ryan Beardsley's (Warren, Vt.) time of 1:32.46, which was good for fourth place. Classmate Lucas Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) was just over a second behind him in fifth position, while the trio of sophomore Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.), junior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) and first-year Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) were separated by just 1.51 seconds in seventh through ninth place.

Sophomore Kyle Goldberg (Manchester, N.H.) and classmate Henness Hoffmann (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) placed 21st and 24th, respectively, for Babson.

The Beavers grabbed four of the top nine spots on the individual leaderboard in Sunday's GS highlighted by Wiacek coming in second with a time of 2:00.11 that left him just 0.03 seconds out of first place. Beardsley came in fourth for the second race in a row, junior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) placed fifth and Wolff added a ninth-place showing.

Beney came in 11th, Goldberg placed 16th to record his top finish of the year and Hoffmann crossed the finish line in 26th position.

Babson will return to action on February 5-6 when it travels to West Mountain for a pair of giant slalom races.
