LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Sophomore Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) and first-year Zach Carpenter (Boulder, Colo.) both recorded a pair of top-10 finishes to help the Babson College men's alpine ski team placed second and third in two giant slalom races over the weekend at Whiteface Mountain.

The Beavers recorded their third consecutive runner-up finish to begin the MacConnell Division season coming in less than two seconds behind Clarkson University in Friday's races. Beardsley was the team's top finisher with a two-run time of 1:43.45 that was good for fourth place, while sophomore Lucas Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) was just 0.19 seconds behind him in fifth.

Sophomore Kyle Wolff (Stratham, N.H.) finished seventh with a time of 1:44.10, which was 0.25 seconds ahead of junior Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) who came in eighth. Carpenter was ninth with a two-run time of 1:45.33, while junior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 1:45.66 to grab 10th place.

Babson wrapped up the weekend with a third-place showing on Saturday coming in just under four seconds behind second-place Clarkson. Castleton University won its third race of the season by finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the Golden Knights.

Beardsley led the Green and White with a time of 1:43.16 that was good for sixth place, while Carpenter was right behind him in seventh after crossing the finish line in 1:45.08. Beney placed eighth with a two-run time of 1:46.08.

The Beavers are set to compete in the slalom at Pat's Peak on Saturday and the GS at Mount Sunapee on Sunday.
