CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine—The Babson College men's alpine ski team placed three competitors in the top eight on the way to finishing third in the giant slalom at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships on Saturday at Sugarloaf Mountain.
Castleton, which won all 10 MacConnell Division races, came in first and Clarkson finished second just under two seconds ahead of the Beavers. Maine-Farmington and Northeastern rounded out the top five on day one of regionals.
Senior MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) was Babson's top finisher posting a two-run time of 1:45.83 to come in third. First-year Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) was less than a second behind him in fifth position, while senior Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 1:47.55 to grab eighth place.
Sophomore Victor Wiacek (Douglaston, N.Y.) came in 10th, while first-year Zach Roman (Mashpee, Mass.) was fifth following his first run but was unable to complete his second trip down the hill.
Babson returns to Sugarloaf on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for the slalom.
