Women's Basketball Overpowers Mount Holyoke for Eighth Straight Win, 104-33

Beavers Improve to 8-0 in the NEWMAC with Eighth Straight Win

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) led three players in double figures with a game-high 18 points as Babson College defeated visiting Mount Holyoke College, 104-33, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside Staake Gymnasium.

Babson, which has won its last eight games, improves to 16-7 overall and 8-0 in conference play, while Mount Holyoke slips to 1-22 overall and 0-8 in the NEWMAC with its 20th consecutive loss.

Bonifacic went 9-of-12 from the floor in addition to pulling down six rebounds and dishing out four assists for the Beavers. Junior Christina Bonfiglio (Westwood, Mass.) and first-year Caroline Clark (Philadelphia, Pa.) both set net career highs with 17 points apiece, while junior Katie Jones (Ridgewood, N.J.) came off the bench to score 10 points.

Senior Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, Conn.) led all players with nine boards and classmate Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) dished out a game-high five assists for Babson.

Sophomore Annika Brooks (Portland, Maine) finished with 15 points for the Lyons.

The Green and White opened the game with a 16-2 run that included 14 points from Bonifacic and Tamulionis on the way to building a 24-9 lead after one quarter. Bonfiglio converted a pair of layups around a three-pointer by Clark as Babson extended its advantage to 33-9 less than three minutes into the second.

Mount Holyoke got back within 22 thanks to a three-pointer by sophomore Mikayla McEwen (South Hadley, Mass.) and back-to-back hoops by Brooks, but the Beavers responded by closing the stanza with an 8-0 run that stretched its lead to 46-16 at the half. Bonifacic scored eight quick points out of the locker as Babson shot 76.5 (13-of-17) and outscored the Lyons 28-5 in the third quarter, pushing its advantage to 74-21.

Bonfiglio and Clark both scored seven fourth-quarter points as the Green and White shot 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) from the floor over the final 10 minutes.

The Beavers shot 56.8 percent for the game while outscoring Mount Holyoke 70-10 in the paint and 51-6 off of turnovers. The Green and White also outrebounded the Lyons 51-25.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as Babson hosts Springfield, while Mount Holyoke travels to Smith.

GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are 41-7 all-time against Mount Holyoke and have won the last 21 games in the series going back to 2009.
• Babson scored a season-high 60 bench points in Saturday's win.
• There were no fouls called in the third quarter.
• All 11 active players scored at least two points for the Beavers.
