Women's Skiing Opens with Win, Men Finish Third in GS at Okemo

LUDLOW, Vt.—The Babson College women's alpine ski team came in first by just over two seconds, while the men's squad came in third in the giant slalom on the opening day of MacConnell Division competition at Okemo Mountain Resort on Thursday.

Sophomore Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in third overall for the Beavers, while junior Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) and senior Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.) were just behind her in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Fellow senior Alexis Kane (North Syracuse, N.Y.) finished 28th overall to help the Green and White edge out second-place Castleton and third-place UConn.

Led by a third-place finish from sophomore Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.), Babson came in just over a second behind second-place Castleton and 4.6 seconds off the pace of defending champion Clarkson. Classmate Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.) came in fourth overall, while fellow sophomore Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) was just over two seconds behind him in 16th position.

Fellow sophomore Eli Wolfson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) came in 22nd for the Beavers.

Babson returns to the slopes on Friday morning for a pair of slalom runs at Okemo.
