Men's Alpine Skiing Finishes 6th in GS, Combined Standings at USCSA Nationals

Henderson, DeLuca Combine for Four All-America Accolades in Nationals Debut

BEND, Ore.—Babson College first-year MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, N.Y.) earned two more All-America honors to help the Babson College men's alpine ski team come in sixth in the giant slalom and sixth in the combined standings at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships at Mount Bachelor on Friday.

Henderson produced a two-run time of 2:18.00 to place 12th overall in the GS, while first-year Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.) came in just 1.05 seconds behind him in 20th position. Classmate Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) and junior John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished 44th and 50th, respectively, for the Beavers.

Rocky Mountain edged Sierra Nevada by nearly three seconds to win the GS, and also captured first place in the combined standings by virtue of its two first-place showings. Sierra Nevada came in second in the combined standings, while Castleton, Clarkson and Saint Anselm rounded out the top five in the final combined standings. Babson's sixth-place result marked the fifth time in 15 trips to USCSA nationals that Babson has finished sixth or higher.

Henderson, who finished fifth overall joins Carson Thurber '06 and Carter Dowd '16 as the only skiers in program history to earn All-America honors in the slalom, the GS and the combined standings in the same season. DeLuca also earned the first All-America award of his career with a 12th-place finish in the overall standings.
