Henderson, Men's Alpine Skiing Captures Giant Slalom at USCSA Regionals

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.--First-year MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) came in first overall and the Babson College men's alpine ski team placed four racers in the top nine on its way to winning the giant slalom on the opening day of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships on Saturday at West Mountain.

The Beavers edged Connecticut by 0.02 seconds for the top spot, while Castleton came in third just over two seconds off the pace. Clarkson, which won the MacConnell Division regular season title, came in fourth.

Henderson posted the fastest time in each of his two runs to finish first by 0.05 seconds with a time of 1:28.70. First-year Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) came in sixth with a time of 1:30.14, which was just 0.03 seconds faster than classmate Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, Mass.), who came in seventh.

Fellow first-year Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) finished ninth with a time of 1:30.43 and senior Max Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed 37th overall.

Babson, which is seeking its 10th consecutive USCSA National Championships appearance, will race in the slalom on Sunday at West Mountain.
