Men's Soccer Picks Up Key NEWMAC Victory at Emerson, 2-0

BOSTON—Junior Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) and first-year Samuel Lalor (Washington, D.C.) each had a goal as visiting Babson College defeated Emerson College, 2-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field.

With its second consecutive win, Babson is now 6-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play, while Emerson slips to 4-7-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the NEWMAC.

Juniors Chris Czarnecki (Baltimore, Md.) and Cole Farrey (Burlington, Conn.) both recorded an assist for the Beavers. Senior goalkeeper James Takami (Kenmore, Wash.) made four saves to recorded his second consecutive shutout.

The Green and White was on the attack early and broke through in the 22nd minute when Parker took a feed from Czarnecki and drilled a shot past Lions' senior goalkeeper Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, Gal.) from inside 10 yards for his second goal of the year. Babson doubled its advantage in the 43rd minute when Farrey's service from the left wing was touched home by Lalor at the back post for his first career tally.

Emerson's best opportunity of the match came in the 32nd minute when sophomore Gavin Faucette (Oakland, Calif.) hit a 30-yard blast that sailed just over the crossbar.

Fischer finished with four saves for the Lions, who were outshot 16-8 on the afternoon. The Beavers also attempted five of the game's six corner kicks.

Babson returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Eastern Connecticut State at 4 p.m., while Emerson visits Springfield next Saturday at 12 p.m.

GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are 5-0 all-time against Emerson and have outscored the Lions 18-1 over the last five years.
• Babson is now unbeaten in 13 straight games (12-0-1) in the month of October going back to 2015.
• The Green and White is now 5-0-0 this season and have won 34 of its last 36 games when scoring at least two goals.
• The Beavers have not conceded a first-half goal in seven consecutive matches.
