Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Chris Czarnecki (Baltimore, Md.) scored twice and junior Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) added a goal and two assists as Babson College defeated visiting Wheaton College, 5-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.
With its third win in four matches, Babson improves to 7-6-0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play, while Wheaton slips to 5-7-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the NEWMAC.
Sophomores Alex Crompton (Killington, Vt.) and Youcef Ziad (Holbrook, Mass.) each scored once, and junior Jackson Greenspan (Meriden, N.H.) recorded two assists for the Beavers. Senior James Takami (Kenmore, Wash.) matched his career high with nine saves in the victory.
Senior Amara Sesay (New York, N.Y.) scored his 14th goal of the season, while junior Adam Waks (Acton, Mass.) and sophomore Neil Fitzgerald (Wakefield, Mass.) each chipped in with an assist for the Lyons. Senior goalkeeper Erik Wisniewski (Salisbury, Mass.) made three saves in the loss.
Czarnecki opened the scoring in the seventh minute when he drilled a header off a perfect service from Parker past Wisniewski for a 1-0 advantage. He then doubled the lead in the 24th minute by volleying Parker's corner kick into the upper corner for his sixth tally of the season.
Parker extended the lead to 3-0 less than 10 minutes later as he ran onto a pass from Greenspan and ripped a shot from the edge of the six-yard box inside the near post for his second marker of the season. Wheaton pulled one back late in the opening stanza when Sesay headed home a cross from Waks following a short corner kick to get within 3-1 in the 43rd minute.
Takami made a huge save to keep the margin at two when he denied a volley by Lyons' senior Louis Chavez (Porterville, Calif.) in the 54th minute. Wisniewski matched him in the 60th minute when he raced off his line to push aside a breakaway attempt by Beavers' senior Dan McGuinness (Groton, Mass.).
Babson pushed its lead back to 4-1 in the 76th minute on Crompton's diving header from the penalty spot. Ziad then capped the scoring in the 85th minute as he gained possession of the ball just shy of midfield following a Wheaton corner kick and calmly slotted a low shot past Wisniewski on a breakaway for his team-leading seventh goal of the fall.
The Lyons outshot the Beavers 18-17, and both teams attempted six corner kicks.
Babson returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Williams at 3 p.m., while Wheaton takes on Wesleyan on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

• The Beavers are now 17-20-0 all-time against Wheaton and have won 11 of the last 16 matches going back to 2008.
• Babson's five goals on are Saturday are its most against the Lyons since a 5-3 victory in Norton back in 2012.
• The Green and White has now won 111 straight games going back to 1999 when scoring three or more goals.
• Babson head coach Jon Anderson '75 and Wheaton interim head coach Mike Coven met for the 33rd time on Saturday. With the Beavers' victory, Anderson is now 15-14-4 all-time against Coven, who retired after 44 seasons as the head coach at Brandeis last winter.
