Men's Alpine Skiing Wins Second Consecutive Race, Women Come in Fourth in Slalom at West Mountain

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—The Babson College men's alpine ski team won its second race in as many days, while the women came in fourth in the slalom on the final day of competition at West Mountain on Sunday.

One day after first-year MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) came in first to lead the Beavers to a victory in the giant slalom, classmate Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.) used the fastest second run of any competitor to collect his first career victory with a time of 1:46.21. Henderson moved up six spots in his last run to finish fifth, while fellow first-year Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) placed eighth for Babson, which edged second-place Castleton by over 17 seconds.

Junior John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) posted his top finish of the year by moving up eight spots with a strong second run to move into 15th position. Senior Max Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was just 0.25 seconds behind him in 16th place, while first-year Eli Wolfson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) came in 18th. Junior Ben Greenspan (Chappaqua, N.Y.) also recorded his best result of the year, finishing in 32nd place.

In the women's slalom, first-year Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) posted her fourth consecutive top-10 finish by coming in seventh overall with a time of 1:52.02. Junior Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished eighth, senior Kristen Sweeney (Westport, Conn.) was 13th and sophomore Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) recorded a 16th-place showing.

Seniors Molly Danzig (Allendale, N.J.) and Megan Jones (Essex, Mass.) placed 27th and 32nd, respectively, for the Beavers, who finished behind Castleton, Clarkson and Brown. Junior Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.) and sophomore Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.), who were both in the top 15 after their first runs, were two of four Babson skiers that were unable to complete their second trip down the mountain.

The Beavers return to action on Friday when they travel to Whiteface Mountain for two days of giant slalom competition.
