Box Score MILTON, Mass.—Babson College sophomore goaltender Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) finished with 19 saves, but Curry College scored 41 seconds into overtime to edge the visiting Beavers, 1-0, in non-conference men's ice hockey action on Thursday night at Max Ulin Rink.
Babson, which has dropped four straight games, slips to 7-5-1 on the year, while Curry improves to 6-3-1 with its second consecutive victory.
Following three periods without a goal, Colonels' junior Jake Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) collected a feed from sophomore Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland) and sent a one-timer past the glove of Pompa early in the extra session for the only tally of the night.
Curry outshot the Green and White 6-5 in an opening period that saw both teams go 0-for-1 on the power play. The Beavers held a 9-6 edge in second-period shots, but senior Brett Sinclair (St. Catherines, Ontario) kept the game scoreless with nine saves, including two to help kill off a Colonels' hooking penalty midway through the stanza.
Sinclair finished with 21 saves on the night to record the third shutout of his career and first of the season.
The Green and White recorded a slim 21-10 edge in shots while both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Babson will break for exams and return to action on January 6 when it hosts New England College at 7 p.m., while Curry wraps up its first-half schedule on Saturday with a 7 p.m. face-off at Manhattanville.
