Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—First-year Youcef Ziad (Holbrook, Mass.) scored the only goal of the match in the 48th minute as Babson College extended its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 1-0 win over visiting Endicott College in non-conference men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.
Babson, which is ranked 10th in the latest NSCAA regional poll, is now 8-4-3 on the year, while Endicott, which is ninth in the regional rankings, falls to 8-5-2 overall.
Senior Adam Villari (Landsdale, Pa.) recorded an assist and junior goalkeeper James Takami (Kenmore, Wash.) made one save to post his fifth clean sheet of the year for the Beavers.
Senior Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) turned away one shot for the Gulls.
The Green and White had the best scoring opportunity for either side in the first half, but first-year Alex Crompton (Killington, Vt.) pushed his shot just wide after running onto a thru ball from sophomore Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) in the 28th minute.
The Beavers broke through just over two minutes after halftime when sophomore Addison Choi (Fullerton, Calif.) forced a turnover and then played the ball down the left flank to Villari. After gaining the box and beating a defender towards the end line, he played the ball back to the center of the box for Ziad, who hit a one-touch finish into the upper right corner for his second career marker.
Takami made his lone save in the 58th minute when he corralled a low shot by Endicott first-year Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) from inside six yards following a scramble inside the box. The Gulls nearly created another opportunity in the 78th minute off a corner by junior Robert Hartan (Hebron, Conn.), but Choi cleared the ball out of danger after Takami bobbled the service into the box.
The Beavers finished with a slim 7-6 edge in shots and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Babson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts WPI at 2:30 p.m., while Endicott returns to conference play on Wednesday when it hosts the University of New England at 4 p.m.
