No. 2/4 Men's Ice Hockey Falls To Endicott, 3-2

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—First-year Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.) scored a pair of third-period goals to help visiting Endicott College rally to defeat No. 2 USCHO.com/No. 4 D3hockey.com Babson College, 3-2, in non-conference men's ice hockey action on Sunday afternoon at the Babson Skating Center.

Babson, which was riding a three-game winning streak, is now 10-2-1 overall, while Endicott moves to 8-3-2 on the year.

Senior Jimmy Magrath (Medfield, Mass.) and first-year Matt Brazel (Hingham, Mass.) each scored once, while seniors Max Franklin (Wrentham, Mass.) and Mike Vollmin (Wilmington, N.C.), sophomore Jake Donahue (Groveland, Mass.) and first-year Tommy Munichiello (Weymouth, Mass.) all finished with one assist for the Beavers.

Endicott opened the scoring just 6:24 into the first period when first-year Alexander Bonito (Buffalo, N.Y.) threw the puck into the crease from the right of Babson senior goaltender Jamie Murray (Scituate, Mass.) and saw it go in for a 1-0 lead. Murray maintained the one-goal deficit with a great pad save with a little over three minutes to go in the frame, and the Beavers took advantage by scoring a pair of second-period goals to take the lead.

Franklin set up the tying goal at the 3:37 mark as he carried the puck behind the net and found Magrath, who ripped a blast past Gulls' first-year netminder Kevin Aldridge (Beverly Hills, Mich.) for his second tally of the year. Aldridge stuffed sophomore Rob Devaney (Reading, Mass.), who broke free through the slot, with a left-pad save minutes later, but Brazel gave the Green and White a 2-1 lead at 18:46 of the second when he beat Aldridge over the right shoulder off a feed from Munichiello.

Bleck pulled Endicott even at 4:45 of the third period with a shot from the left face-off circle, and then was able to deflect a shot by first-year Ryan Dougherty (Sterling Heights, Mich.) past a screened Murray on the power play to take the lead for good at the 16:38 mark. The Gulls then withstood a frantic final push by the Green and White, who pulled Murray for an extra skater with 2:24 left, to preserve the upset.

Murray finished with 20 saves for the Beavers, while Aldridge turned away 41 shots for Endicott.

Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to New England College for a 7 p.m. face-off, while the Gulls host Tufts on Saturday at 4 p.m.
