Ryan Becomes First Coach In Program History To Reach 100 Wins

BEVERLY, Mass.--First-year Catherine Gilman (Cohasset, Mass.) finished with two goals and one assist as visiting Babson College rolled past Endicott College, 5-0, to help head coach Julie Ryan collect her 100th career victory in non-conference field hockey action on Friday afternoon at North Field.

Senior Elizabeth Holmes (Southborough, Mass.) finished with a goal and two assists, while sophomore Elise Towers (Cicero, N.Y)  scored once and added an assist for the Beavers. First-year Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) also chipped in with her second tally of the year in the win.

Senior goalkeeper Kayla Costa (Watertown, Mass.) was superb in goal, stopping three shots to post her second consecutive shutout for Babson (2-0). The back-to-back clean sheets are the first for the Green and White since the 2013 campaign when it shut out three straight foes.

Gilman opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the game, burying a feed from Holmes for her first collegiate goal. Holmes added an unassisted tally at the 33:06 mark to make it 2-0 at the break, and then set up Gilman's second marker just 1:18 into the second half as Babson built a three-goal lead.

Gilman set up Towers' second goal of the season just over three minutes later, and Towers later set up a tally by Tango to cap the scoring at the 55:31 mark.

Senior goalkeeper Rose Bradley (Pottstown, Pa.) finished with a career-high 14 saves, including one on a second-half penalty stroke, for the Gulls.

The Beavers outshot Endicott (1-1) 19-1 in the first half and finished with a 31-7 edge in shots for the game. The Green and White attempted 10 of the game's 14 penalty corners.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday as Babson hosts Connecticut College at 7 p.m., while Endicott travels to Salem State for a 6 p.m. start.
