BEND, Ore.—The Babson College men's alpine ski team wrapped up competition at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Friday by finishing seventh in the slalom and tied for sixth in the combined standings at Mount Bachelor.
The Beavers, who were making their eight straight national championship appearance, came in sixth in the overall combined standings for the third time since 2006.
First-year T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) was the Green and White's top performer on Friday, as he finished 20th in the slalom and 19th in the combined standings. He posted a two-run time of 1:43.31, coming in over a second faster in his second run.
Senior Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.) capped his career with a 31st-place finish in the slalom, while junior Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) came in 39th in the slalom. Junior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah), who garnered All-America second-team honors in the giant slalom on Saturday, and classmate Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) were both unable to complete both runs.
Sierra Nevada College won the slalom and came in first in the combined standings to finish just ahead of three-time defending champion Rocky Mountain College. Clarkson University, which won the MacConnell Division title this winter, came in third, while Castleton State College and St. Olaf College rounded out the top five.
