Dowd Earns All-America Honors As Men's Alpine Skiing Finishes Seventh In GS

Dowd Becomes Second Five-Time All-American In School History

BEND, Ore.—Junior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in 13th overall to become the second skier in program history to earn All-America honors in three consecutive seasons as Babson College finished seventh in the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships at Mount Bachelor on Wednesday.

Dowd put together a pair of strong runs to post a time of 1:57.65 and join Carson Thurber '06 as the only other skier in school history to garner All-America accolades in three straight years. It was also the fifth All-America honor for Dowd, who has three straight top-15 finishes in the GS at nationals.

Junior Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) came 24th overall with a time of 2:00.09, while first-year T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) finished 43rd. Senior Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.) and sophomore Max Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) were unable to finish both runs on Wednesday.

Sierra Nevada College placed five skiers in the top six to take the overall lead over three-time defending champion Rocky Mountain College. The Beavers MacConnell Division rivals Clarkson University and Castleton State College finished third and fourth, respectively.

Babson will return to the slopes for the slalom on Friday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
