Beavers Come In Third In MacConnell Division Standings, Set For Eighth Straight Regional Appearance

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—The Babson College men's alpine ski team wrapped up its MacConnell Division regular season schedule over the weekend at West Mountain. The Beavers finished second in the giant slalom on Saturday before posting a fifth-place result in Sunday's slalom.

Clarkson University, which won the GS on Saturday, claimed its fourth consecutive MacConnell Division title, while the Green and White came in third overall, finishing just one point behind runner-up Castleton State College. The third-place finish helped Babson qualify for the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Eastern Regional Championships for the eighth straight season.

First-year T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) had the fastest second run of any skier in the giant slalom on Saturday, coming in fifth overall with a time of 1:42.63. Senior Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.) continued his strong campaign by coming in sixth with a time of 1:42.83, and junior Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) used the third-fastest second-run time to come in 10th.

Juniors Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) tied for 16th place, and sophomore Max Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 18th in the GS.

Dowd had a pair of strong runs in Sunday's slalom to match his best finish of the year by coming in second with a time of 1:17.69. Quisenberry came in 19th, Sam Barber was 22nd, and first-year John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished 24th for the Beavers, who had four skiers not finish one of their two runs.

After taking next weekend off, Babson will return to West Mountain for the eastern regional on February 21-22.
