First-year Carlo Araujo (Bradenton, Fla.) scored for the Beavers, while classmate Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) picked up his second assist of the year. Senior goalkeeper Stephen Donato (Morganville, N.J.) made four saves on the afternoon.
Sophomore Louis Chavez (Porterville, Calif.) scored once and senior Noah Kossoff (New York, N.Y.) added an assist for the Lyons, who got seven saves from senior goalkeeper Matt Dickey (Newton, Mass.).
Araujo put the Green and White in front 1-0 in the seventh minute with his second goal of the fall. Parker earned a free kick along the left sideline and his service found Araujo, who put away an easy header from inside the six-yard box.
After a couple of near misses, Wheaton equalized in the 54th minute when Kossoff flicked a ball over the top for Chavez, who took one touch and ripped a shot from just inside the box underneath the crossbar. Babson had a pair of great opportunities to regain the lead late in the second half, but Dickey denied a blast from junior Adam Villari (Landsdale, Pa.) in the 80th minute and came off his line to stop junior Caleb Long's (Kinsgton, Mass.) shot from inside 10 yards in the 88th minute.
Dickey made two more saves in the first overtime period before Waks game-winner just under three minutes the second extra session. Following a corner kick, the ball squirted towards the penalty spot where Waks hit a left-footed strike inside the right post to end the match.
Babson returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts regionally-ranked UMass-Boston at 3:30 p.m., while Wheaton faces Trinity on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
