Men's Soccer Edges Bridgewater State, 1-0

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Mass.—Sophomore Christopher Doire (Mansfield, Mass.) scored in the 28th minute and senior goalkeeper Tanner Click (Lawrence, Kan.) made four saves to help visiting Babson College defeat Bridgewater State University, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action at rain-soaked Swenson Field on Wednesday night.

With its second consecutive win, Babson is now 9-6-2 overall, while Bridgewater State falls to 13-3-1 on the year.

Doire struck for the only goal of the match with a bending shot from the left corner of the 18-yard box that snuck inside the far post at 27:02. The marker was the first given up by Bears' junior goalkeeper Colin Jepson (Sandwich, Mass.) in 607 minutes going back to October 3.

Beavers' sophomore Justin Kaplan (Medway, Mass.) had the best scoring chance of the second half for either team in the 60th minute, but his 20-yard blast was turned aside by Jepson. Click preserved the victory with a pair of late saves, pushing a shot by first-year Connor Spencer (West Brookfield, Mass.) out of danger in the 76th minute and denying an attempt by junior Jonathan Pires (Medford, Mass.) in the 87th minute.

Click, who was making his first start of the season, finished with four saves to post his fourth career shutout. Jepson also stopped four shots for Bridgewater State.

The Beavers finished with a slim 12-11 edge in shots, while the Green and White held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson hosts Emerson at 1 p.m., while Bridgewater State faces Worcester State at 12 p.m.
