ANDOVER, N.H.—First-year Jackson Vanzon-Borwick (South Egremont, Mass.) won the slalom for the second consecutive weekend, while junior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake, City, Utah) and first-year T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) both put together a pair of top-10 finishes as the Babson College men's alpine ski team finished first in the slalom at Blackwater Ski Area on Saturday after coming in second in the giant slalom at Mount Sunapee on Friday.
Vanzon-Borwick had the fastest time in each of his two slalom runs to post a total time of 1:34.49, edging Griffin Struyk of Connecticut by 0.23 seconds. Dowd, who finished second in the slalom a week ago at Okemo, was seventh overall with a time of 1:37.57, while Pope came in 10th with a time of 1:38.66. Senior Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.) was 13th, junior Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Mass.) came in 20th, and classmate Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) finished 26th for the Beavers, who took the top spot in the team standings ahead of second-place Clarkson and third-place Massachusetts.
In the giant slalom on Friday, Pope had a pair of solid runs to come in fourth overall with a time of 1:45.76. Dowd came in sixth with a time of 1:46.91 and Barber was ninth and just 1.03 seconds behind Dowd. First-year John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) had the best finish of his young career coming in 15th for the Green and White, which finished just over four seconds behind the Golden Knights.
Babson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y.
