Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y.—No. 13 SUNY Oneonta scored twice in each half and got goals from four different players en route to a 4-0 victory over visiting Babson College in the championship game of the Oneonta Mayor's Cup Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Oneonta is now 3-0-0 on the year, while Babson, which had its three-match winning streak snapped, falls to 3-1-0 overall.
Beavers' graduate student Dillon Ventura (Pittstown, N.J.), senior Justin Laurenzo (Park Ridge, N.J.), and sophomore Kofi Abankroh (Worcester, Mass.) were all selected to the All-Tournament team.
Junior Jake Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y.) opened the scoring for the Red Dragons with his second goal of the season just 6:56 into the contest. Classmate Dylan Williams (Monroe, N.Y.) followed with his third goal of the year, heading in a corner kick from junior Greg Silvestro (West Sayville, N.Y.) to make it 2-0 in the 20th minute.
Senior Addison Straub (Manlius, N.Y.) gave Oneonta a three-goal lead, redirecting a cross from junior Colin Volpe (Commack, N.Y.) past Babson junior goalkeeper Tanner Click (Lawrence, Kan.) for his first goal of the fall in the 51st minute. Junior Sean Vinberg (Massapequa, N.Y.) capped the scoring with his first goal of the year in the 87th minute.
Click stopped four shots for the Beavers, while senior Vincent Pellegrino (Baldwin, N.Y.) made one save to post his third consecutive shutout for the Red Dragons.
Oneonta outshot the Green and White 16-8 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Babson returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to take on Mount Ida College at 7 p.m., while Oneonta will be at Elmira College for a 4 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday.
