LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Sophomore Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) put together a pair of strong runs in the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championship on Wednesday at Whiteface Mountain, becoming just the third skier in program history to earn All-America honors in back-to-back seasons.

Dowd finished 15th overall and was named to the All-America second team joining John Roche '09 and Carson Thurber '06 as the only men to earn All-America accolades in two different seasons. Last winter he was tabbed as an honorable mention All-American after finishing 11th in the giant slalom.

Unfortunately things did not go as well for the rest of the team as sophomore Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the Beavers only other competitor to finish, leaving the Green and White in 17th place overall.

Dowd put together a two-run time of 2:08.24 while Barber came in 27th, putting together a second run that was over three seconds faster than his first trip down the hill, to post a total time of 2:12.03. Neither Senior Clark Chamberlin (Auburn, Maine) or sophomore Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) completed their first run, and junior Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.) was disqualified in his second run forcing Babson to take a ghost time of 3:02.71 in place of a third finisher.

The Beavers will look to rebound when they take part in the slalom portion of the championship on Friday morning starting at 9:45 a.m.
