BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Justin Laurenzo (Park Ridge, N.J.) notched the only goal of the match 7:15 into overtime as Babson College slipped past visiting Bridgewater State University, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

With the win, Babson is now 8-4-0 on the year, while Bridgewater State, which had won three straight matches, drops to 5-5-0.

After dominating the possession for much of the game, Laurenzo's fifth game-winning tally of the season finally got the Beavers on the board. Sophomore Caleb Long (Kinsgton, Mass.) took a throw in from first-year Logan Ventura (Pittstown, N.J.) on the left wing and sent a long cross into the box for Laurenzo, who flicked it past Bears' first-year goalkeeper Colin Golden (Mansfield, Mass.) and inside the left post for the victory.

After a slow start, the Green and White piled up all 10 of its first-half shots in the final 21 minutes of the period. Sophomore Moses Lim (Torrance, Calif.) hit the post in the 29th minute and Bridgewater State starting sophomore goalkeeper Colin Jepson (Sandwich, Mass.) made three terrific saves to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

He denied a 12-yard blast from junior Andrew Gonzalez (Durham, Conn.) in the 33rd minute and then pushed away an eight-yard rocket from Laurenzo a minute later. His final save of the opening period came in the 41st minute with a sprawling stop of a shot by Babson first-year Justin Kaplan (Medway, Mass.).

Golden, who came on for Jepson at halftime, was tested right away by the Beavers and came up with a save on a hard shot from sophomore Martin Aranzabe (Montevideo, Uruguay) 17 seconds into the stanza before denying a low blast from junior Mario Vicente (Miami, Fla.) in the 52nd minute.

Junior Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) had two of the Bears' best scoring chances, missing high with 56 seconds left in regulation after settling a ball in the box, followed by a shot from just inside the box that was swallowed up by Beavers' junior goalkeeper Tanner Click (Lawrence, Kan.) in the 94th minute.

Click finished with four saves for Babson, while Golden and Jepson combined to stop seven shots for Bridgewater State.

The Green and White finished with a 20-6 edge in shots and a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Clark University at 1 p.m., while Bridgewater State travels to Roger Williams University on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
