Men's Skiing Wins First-Ever USCSA East Regional Title, Earns Sixth Straight Bid to Nationals

GREENWOOD, Maine -- The Babson College men's alpine ski team made history on Sunday, as the Beavers placed first out of 17 teams in the slalom portion of the 2013 USCSA Eastern Regionals at Mount Abram. As a result of the victory and Saturday's second-place performance in the giant slalom, Babson finished first in the combined standings for the first time in program history.

The Green and White dominated Sunday's slalom, which was shortened to just one run due to inclement weather. First-year Carter Dowd turned in yet another brilliant performance, earning his third victory of the season by placing first with an overall with a time of 47.31. He was followed closely by classmate Graham Quisenberry, who placed second overall in 48.97 - the best finish of his young career.

Also skiing well on Sunday were senior captain Zach Breakstone, who finished ninth in 49.82, first-year Sam Barber, who placed 10th in 49.86, and sophomore Kevin Dachos, who came in 33rd in 54.13.

With their first-ever USCSA East Regional championship, the Beavers also secured the program's sixth consecutive bid to the USCSA National Championships. That event will take place from March 3-9 at Sunvalley, Idaho.
