LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- First-year Carter Dowd turned in a pair of outstanding individual performances to help the nationally-ranked Babson College men's ski team post back-to-back top-three finishes in the giant slalom at Whiteface this past weekend. Senior captain Zach Breakstone also came up big for the eighth-ranked Beavers, who placed third on Saturday and second on Sunday.

Saturday saw Dowd place fifth overall for the Beavers, whose combined team time of 6:46.66 trailed only Colby-Sawyer and Clarkson in the final standings. Breakstone also skied well for the Green and White, finishing 12th overall, while sophomore Kevin Dashos and first-year Graham Quisenberry came in 22nd and 25th, respectively.

On Sunday, the Beavers placed four skiers in the top-13, thanks in part to brilliant a second run by Breakstone that helped Babson finish second behind only Clarkson in the team standings. After a tough opening run that had him sitting in 27th place among individuals, Breakstone turned in the third fastest second run of the competition to surge all the way to 11th place overall. Meanwhile, Dowd had another fantastic showing with a second-place finish, Dachos came in 10th, and first-year Sam Barber rounded out the team's scorers in 13th place as the Beavers continued their tremendous winter campaign with another stellar finish.

Led by senior captain Franny Robertson, the Babson women also continued to perform well despite not having enough competitors to garner an official team score. Robertson finished 12th on Saturday and then used a strong second run to move from 18th to 13th in the final standings on Sunday. Junior Jaclyn LaCavalla added finishes of 40th and 42nd, while first-year Caroline Boffa came in 55th on Saturday and 53rd on Sunday.
