Men's Skiing Places Seventh in Slalom to Finish Seventh Overall at Nationals

SUNDAY RIVER, Maine -- The Babson College men's alpine ski team had another stellar day at the 2012 United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships at Sunday River on Saturday, as the Beavers finished seventh out of 20 teams in the slalom portion of the competition.

Saturday's performance coupled with the Beavers' eighth-place effort in Thursday's GS enabled Babson to finish seventh in the final overall team standings. It was the team's best placing at Nationals since finishing sixth in 2009.

The Beavers were led in the slalom by senior captain Greg LaFrance (Brookline, N.H.), who celebrated his final collegiate race by finishing 32nd overall. He was followed closely by first-year Kevin Dachos (Northampton, Mass.), who placed 36th in the slalom, and junior Richard Beneduci (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), who rounded out the team's scoring three in 44th place. Sophomore Clark Chamberlin (Auburn, Maine) also skied well for Babson, bouncing back from a DQ in the giant slalom on Thursday to finish 44th in the slalom competition.

This was the men's team's ninth appearance ever at Nationals, including its fifth straight and seventh in the last eight years.
