HANCOCK, Mass. -- The Babson alpine ski teams competed at the UConn Carnival at Jiminy Peak this past week, where the women placed seventh in the slalom and eighth in the GS while the men placed fifth in both races.
Pacing the women in Thursday's slalom was captain Franny Robertson, who placed 25th overall. She was followed by Hilary Reis in 34th place, Jaclyn LaCavalla in 38th, and Sopie Komornicki in 48th. The following day, Reis and Robertson were each sensational in the giant slalom event, finishing 14th and 16th, respectively. Rounding out the lineup were LaCavalla, who came in 41st, and Komornicki, who followed in 47th.
The Babson men's team was led on Thursday by captain Greg LaFrance, who place 13th overall, and Zach Breakstone, who also cracked the top 20 in 16th place. Richard Beneduci posted the team's next best finish at 26th, followed by Clark Chamberlin in 34th. LaFrance then posted the squad's best finish again on Friday, placing 15th overall. Breakstone and Chamberlin also broke into the top 20 on Friday, finishing 18th and 19th, respectively, while Beneduci came in 32nd and Ryan Drake finished 35th.
