BRUNSWICK, Maine - Sophomore Thomas Elbling made a game-saving defensive play early in the first overtime to help the Babson College men's soccer team finish with a 2-2 tie at Bowdoin College in non-conference action on Sunday.

Babson led 2-1 late in regulation, but Bowdoin's Hunter Clark scored the game-tying goal with 3:05 remaining. The Beavers move to 9-2-2 this season with the tie while the Polar Bears stand at 4-4-2.

Bowdoin scored the game's first goal when a long inbounds throw from Macgill Eldredge was headed by Sean Bishop to Sam White, who struck a header past diving Babson goaltender Peter Crowley at 18:32. The Beavers were able to even the score before intermission when Shawn Citro was left unmarked 20 yards out on the left wing. Citro blasted a shot that tucked neatly into the top-right corner to knot the contest at 38:50.

Babson took its first lead of the contest early in the second period when a Bowdoin defender was called for a foul in his defensive box. Eric Anderson stepped up and drilled the ensuing penalty kick inside the right post to give the visitors a 2-1 edge with 31:32 to play. The Beavers appeared poised to leave Brunswick with a victory until a late Bowdoin push saw Alex Marecki control the ball at midfield. Marecki found Zach Danssaert on the right wing, who lofted a perfectly-placed service across the penalty area to Clark, who one-timed a right-footed shot inside the left post with 3:05 to go.

Bowdoin had the best chance of either team in overtime, as Marecki broke in loose against Crowley just minutes into the first extra session. Marecki chipped a shot over Crowley's head, but the ball was headed off the goal-line by Elbling, saving the game for Babson.

Crowley ended the contest with six saves while Will Wise made four stops for the Polar Bears.
