BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Mike Fisher's (Longmeadow, Mass.) goal in the 106th minute pushed No. 18 Babson College to a 1-0, double overtime victory over Clark University in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) soccer action this afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

Babson (14-2-2, 6-0-0 NEWMAC) has now won five straight games, and heads into the postseason with a 16-game unbeaten streak. Clark (8-7-2, 0-5-1 NEWMAC) saw their season come to end as they will miss the NEWMAC Tournament for the second consecutive season.

After an evenly played first half in which Clark outshot the hosts, 4-3, Babson controlled the run of play in the second half but struggled to finish opportunities against the defensive-minded Cougars. The Beavers held a 10-1 advantage in shots, but couldn't solve the Clark defense as junior goalkeeper Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) made six of his 10 saves during the period. King also got some help, as back Gianluca Ranallo (Scarsdale, N.Y.) cleared Max Walker's (Newton, Mass.) header off the goal line in the 85th minute.

Babson continued to dominate in overtime, outshooting Clark 8-0 and earning four corner kicks before finally netting the game winner. The build up to the goal started with a blast by Fisher, off a pass from Ryan Obolewicz (Bow, N.H.), that King punched wide of the net for a Babson corner. Jimmy Stento's (Needham, Mass.) service from the right side was redirected by a Cougar defender and bounced to Fisher, who hit a hard volley inside the left post for the game's only goal, his fifth game-winner of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) made one save to post his seventh shutout of the season and 23rd of his career.

Before the game, Babson honored the seven members of its senior class: Crowley, Edson Silva (Brockton, Mass.), Obolewicz, Walker, Salomon Guindi (Mexico City, Mexico), Clint Mason (Williamstown, Mass.), and Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.). Today's victory pushed their four-year record to 61-16-7, giving them the most wins of any class in the 57-year history of the program. The Beavers have also won three consecutive NEWMAC Championships and participated in the last three NCAA tournaments.

The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the first of two NEWMAC semifinals at Babson College. The top-seeded Beavers will face either No. 4 WPI or No. 5 MIT, while No. 2 Springfield and No. 3 Wheaton will meet in the second semifinal at 1:30 p.m.
